Morakot Cave (Emerald Cave), Sikao

(4.5/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Shuttle through darkness to emerge at Morakot Cave (Emerald Cave), a white beach completely surrounded by towering cliffs and green vegetation. To reach this attraction, you must take a boat during low tide to a cave entrance, where you then don a lifejacket and swim through the dark tunnel. The surreal experience of emerging into the sunlight-filled cave and soft beach may be slightly dampened by throngs of tourists in high season. Crowds are at a minimum early and late; bring a waterproof flashlight if the pitch-black cave will make you uncomfortable. Add Morakot Cave (Emerald Cave) to your Sikao travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Sikao holiday planner.

  • Fantastic visit to a very unique place, but take a longtail boat early in the morning to avoid the crowds later in the day.  more »
  • Early in the morning to avoid tourists and with a local fisherman! You can book a boat just for you and go up to Koh kradan to do some snorkelling in the turquoise waters

  • They went by boat to the mouth of the cave and must swim with life jacket from the open sea by the cave in the grotto, which is possible only at low tide. The Durschschwimmen takes maximum 5 minutes, it is pitch black in the Middle, you need a flashlight. We were lucky and were only 4 other people there. You can lie in the flat, perfectly clear water and admire the steep walls. As we swam out again but just a group of 50 people, something came there in it significantly restricts the beauty.

  • Well worth a visit. Anchored outside and took the dingy through. Need to turn the engine off and paddle through. We were at low tide. 1.6m an it had plenty of space but another meter of tide would have made it tricky. You could still swim through though.
  • Not going while you're on koh muk would be a mistake. Take a kayak from Charlie or a long tail boat from the other side of the island.
  • Lovely little swim into the lagoon and small beach, very crowded.
  • It's really breathtaking inside the cave. Take a moment to enjoy the Beauty of Mother Nature.
  • best to come early or it can be rather busy inside the cave and beach. after a short swim you are rewarded with a perfect paradisiacal beach
