Morakot Cave (Emerald Cave), Sikao

Categories: Caves, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web
Shuttle through darkness to emerge at Morakot Cave (Emerald Cave), a white beach completely surrounded by towering cliffs and green vegetation. To reach this attraction, you must take a boat during low tide to a cave entrance, where you then don a lifejacket and swim through the dark tunnel. The surreal experience of emerging into the sunlight-filled cave and soft beach may be slightly dampened by throngs of tourists in high season. Crowds are at a minimum early and late; bring a waterproof flashlight if the pitch-black cave will make you uncomfortable. • It is a curious place: it is an island that can only come through a cave in about 60 metres long but is narrow and low, so boats cannot enter. Then the Guide took a flashlight and us take to the water with them vests lifeguard positions. We got in line and follow it. There is no artificial light in the cave and is not completely straight so until the light on the other side is there a few seconds which is in total darkness (with the exception of the small flashlight of the Guide). We crossed by the road with another group that came out of the same. There are people that not wanted to enter by fear but not was for both: the guide goes slowly and simply consists in follow the light, helped of the vest that you will make float, and in some minutes will be to the other side; I think that deserves the worth the time of darkness. You appear on a beach with vegetation that is in the center of the small island, surrounded by cliffs. We took a few pictures, because the guide had gotten all cameras in a sealed bag, and went back. When we were emerging from the cave it occurred to me to put the head in water, because I had picked up the glasses just in case, and freaked out. Never in my life seen a Bank as big fish. They were small, few centimeters, and very bright. My partner even got to swim among them, a pass. Not you forget of the glasses if you want Marvel you with them. Nice snap end for the excursion of the four islands

  • If you have opportunity to make this trip it or think. We did it why they recommended it other tourists coming back to do it. You can combine it with other islands and do snorkeling because it takes not so much. You adentráis in a cave swimming with the unique light of the Guide... It is better to not say anything more so that you can experience you same. But trying to do it that you will probably

  • Well worth a visit. Anchored outside and took the dingy through. Need to turn the engine off and paddle through. We were at low tide. 1.6m an it had plenty of space but another meter of tide would have made it tricky. You could still swim through though.
  • Not going while you're on koh muk would be a mistake. Take a kayak from Charlie or a long tail boat from the other side of the island.
  • Lovely little swim into the lagoon and small beach, very crowded.
  • It's really breathtaking inside the cave. Take a moment to enjoy the Beauty of Mother Nature.
  • best to come early or it can be rather busy inside the cave and beach. after a short swim you are rewarded with a perfect paradisiacal beach
