Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum and Walking Trail, Sai Yok

(4.7/5 based on 1,900+ reviews on the web)
See an important reminder of World War II at Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum and Walking Trail, commemorating part of the route of the Burma Railway. Known also as the "Death Railway," the line was constructed by POWs held by Japanese forces, along with Asian slave-laborers. This particular section was cut through solid rock by Allied prisoners and slaves working under treacherous conditions, with little rest or food. Now a museum, the site allows you to walk through the valley and learn about this tragic period in human history, with a range of exhibits and touching memorials to those that suffered here. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Sai Yok holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum and Walking Trail and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • An impressive monument this va human cruelty do you sometimes shiver. If you're in the pass and you realize how men here 24/7 executioners had to just a small bit of rice. The ways how they were punished, the diseases and you name it. So low can man so to do such a thing to sink others commissioned by a megalomaniac leader, an ideology or a belief. Nothing has changed in the world ...
