Trip Planner:   Asia  /  Thailand  /  Rayong Province  /  Koh Samed

Koh Samed, Rayong Province

Perfect for a short getaway from Bangkok, Koh Samed has staved off the overwhelming development present on nearby islands and still offers visitors clean sand, unbroken coral reefs, and quiet beaches. However, you will still find plenty of restaurants, accommodations, and shops for convenience. Consider renting a motorbike and exploring the island on your own. Be careful on the tricky Thai roads and remember to take pictures of your bike upon rental in case of scams. Our Klaeng trip planner makes visiting Koh Samed and other Klaeng attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • From Bangkok by bus from port from there by boat to Ko Samet head. Congestion in Thailand wasn't expecting at all, so I took some time. Koh Samet hotel is near by the sea, people often stayed until the night was good. Hotel on the sea where we stayed was very clean! Feral cats and stray dogs were sleeping everywhere. Nobody lol the Japanese while on Ko Samet. There were a lot of things because there were a lot of people in China, also the clerk spoke to us in Chinese. We had only one night is very short, so 2 nights-of much better, so recommend.!

  • Many of the previous writers worry about high prices and garbage... Yes! Who must pay more than about €5 for a Hauptgeeicht right on the shore, white sand beach and blue water, time will rip you off with security ;) No! Prices are all totally okay! You can super and also very cheap on the island essen...dann you must go but something inside or even look. Just there where also Thais eat gehen...ist's fresh and super price! It is typical to pimp your German when it gets out from the speedboat and not immediately one is offered ice cream for € 0.20. The prices are perfectly fine! The deck on the main beach Saikaew costs E.g. (best location and free choice!) 100 THB and not €10! We're talking about €3 for the whole day! A sprite costs 70 THB 25 THB (no euro!) and a Coconutsmoothie. All applies E.g. to the Tonsak resort. It was great there! Many tourists, especially Thais, on the ground are on the weekend. Who upset about, the native their own country genießen...kann again, just a German. Who wants to have his rest, must move and head to one of the many mini beaches or other beaches. All are totally beautiful and different! And nowhere I have many people on the beach really experienced, except on the Saikaew beach. But there is enough :) and the Speetboote keep only in certain areas. The island is beautiful, there is so much to discover! There are many fantastic resorts and small hostels. Each wallet can make holiday here! And if Thais are friendly, is itself :) mostly on one Now to my "caution". You can totally relaxed for 50 THB translated the ferry (one way) on the island. Speed boat costs 200 THB. When it comes to the normal ticket! So be careful :) Everywhere cunning ticket crooks who want to sell a fully priced coated rides are lurking. Just sit down and thank you sagen...weitergehen for the official switch! And depart only from ban PHE Pier! Should one of the taxi, mini bus or else at one of the neighbouring piers be deposed who... Danger :)... There is the agreement that you want to ban PHE Pier. Otherwise run 10 minutes stop! I want to expressly warn against "Pikky Tours". That 1200 THB for a speed boat crossing and want only to hold, a Thai as a mediator and and and friends have been picked again. The garbage problem is all the other islands in the world anzutreffen...und unfortunately almost all Thai Islands. However, I've seen almost every day at the pier of waste ships picked up much. But do garbage ehrlich...den "we"! We tourists are to blame and it's up to everyone to do even what against the littering! It is a great island, with great hotels, very many nice people, many nice Thai!, a grandiose landscape, many stunning beaches, totally reasonable price... Koh Samet is great! PS: There's a very good nature conservation police, who really care :) I found this really great! I'm happy to again :)

  • The Aao prao beach which is on the west side of the Island is the best beach I have visited so far. Don't forget to watch the beautiful sunset on this beach.  more »
