Old Phuket Town, Phuket Town

#3 of 13 in Sightseeing in Phuket Town
Landmark Tourist Spot
Go for a stroll through the colorful streets of Old Phuket Town and soak in the eclectic architecture and lively atmosphere of Thailand's former tin-mining capital. Throughout the centuries tin attracted both workers and industrialists from all over the world to Phuket, and today the old part of the city remains famous for its eclectic mix of Chinese mansions, Portuguese houses, and other historical architecture. Many of the once residential buildings now house shops, restaurants, cafes, and small museums. The neighborhood especially comes alive during the Sunday markets, when locals set up stalls with snacks and souvenirs, and street performers showcase their talents to passersby. • Amazing, clean 4 beds dorm with access to a pool near the charming old town in Phuket. Extremely nice staff. Access to a kitchen. Old town market with fresh products right next to the hostel. It's really far from the popular beaches, but just rent a motorbike for 200 bath a day and go wherever you wanna go. Would definitely recommend for 225 bath a night!
  • Well situated in Phuket Old Town. Staff speak enough English to understand and respond. She was also helpful in helping me book a tour of the nearby islands. Not far from the bus station which goes to the various beaches (Patong, Karon), approximately 10 minute walk. Convenience stores nearby and even a gentlemans club. The indie night market is a 2 minute walk away. The showers, are the worst showers I've ever seen. Absolutely no pressure, and cold water all the time. If you stay on the top floor and sleep late, expect to hear the staff chat and watch videos all night. Also, there always seems to be schoolchildren in the foyer, making it a very noisy place up until about 8pm or so. Think there are tutors who live in the hostel.
  • Stayed one night here. The concierge was very nice and helped with information on tours. They had a pool there that's only open until 10pm. The hostel was clean and had AC but no hot showers. The location is pretty good walking distance to most attractions such as night market and bars which are all about a 10 min walk at most.
  • Just okay. The bathroom should be cleaner. The owner and staffs are nice and attentive though. I felt like there's bug in my bunk bed.
  • Still one of the best place to go to if you want to stay near old town. Perfect location since it's near the 7-11, a renowned spa but most importantly, a bus stop back to the airport. Remember don't be shy, grab a drink and chatter away at the outdoor table.
