The Sanctuary Of Truth (Prasat Sut Ja-Tum), Pattaya

4.4
Visit The Sanctuary Of Truth (Prasat Sut Ja-Tum), an atmospheric, intricately carved Buddhist temple. Started in 1981 and still under construction, the wooden place of worship features ornate images, reliefs, and statues. With an intensive attention to detail and a sensitive balancing of contemporary aesthetics and traditional architecture, there's plenty to appreciate about this work in progress--so don't let its completion date of 2050 put you off. • I think people NEED to research this place before making comments. It will always be under construction. So don't complain if people are working on it, when you visit. The entire place is made without a single nail (wooden nails) and it is continually being added to and maintained in order to help represent what it's creators vision was (who is now deceased, but his fortune carries the work on). It is so much more than simply a giant wooden temple. Obviously those who visit are amazed by the level of detail in its craftsmanship. But it has a journey and a destination... One well worth looking up, it's a great story and really a modern wonder. 🙏🤗❤️
  • Amazing spot to see. if you like to see some of the best wood crafts, don't miss it. We had a beautiful lunch (with a really good price). Temple is fantastic and the place feels strange but nice (all statues on the roofs are bend and look at you instead of looking to the horizon as we usually see in churches). I think the best time to go there is around 1500, so you can see a nice traditional performance at 1530 in the temples yard. Do forget your water bottle too.
  • You have to see this! Amazing work of art! Completely hand carved. An ongoing project. You can feel the peacefulness when you walk in. Women have to have their legs covered like most of the Buddhist temples so plan ahead for that. Otherwise they do sell sarongs there for 200 baht. My husband and brother were fine with their longer shorts. You can get a guided tour or walk around by yourself. You can also take a ride on an elephant for 400 baht. If that's not your thing you can buy a large bag of bananas and feed them for 100 baht. Overall it wasn't expensive at all to enjoy the place. The Sanctuary of Truth is worth a visit for sure. Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship.
  • This beautiful castle-temple was build in 1981 in the fine wood carving sculpture by Thai craftsmen, and is an on going construction. We had to wear hard hats at the time of visit. It features meaningful teachings, moral, ethics by ancient philosophers through the works of arts. It's a magical and peaceful place by the sea. There're restaurants, shops, and other activities such as elephant and horseback riding in the area.
  • The best place in Pattaya. Its made as if you are in some dream world. Historical significance attached to it. Its world's only structure which has been constructed by complete wood. Wonderful wood work to see. Wish they had allowed tourists to explore other floors as well. One needs to cover up there knees before entering the temple.
