Pai Canyon, Pai

4.1
#1 of 52 in Things to do in Pai
Thin, red ridges with sheer drops on either side create the steep, forest-filled valleys of Pai Canyon. Climb the steps to the viewing platform to enjoy sweeping views. You can head further down the valley following the path of the ridge, but the poorly maintained track follows a precarious route, so be extra careful if you decide to hike. Because it lacks shade, the path is best tackled in the morning or afternoon. Put Pai Canyon at the forefront of your travel plans using our Pai tour itinerary builder site .

  • When I saw the photo I was thinking of the Canyon is only down the road, I think higher than a servo is scared in Pará. Length tight watch.

  • Went here about an hour before sunset. Should have gone there a couple of hours before to get a really sweet spot. Dont get me wrong the sunset will be amazing either way. But its crowded with tourist...  more »
  • Amazing views but quite hazy as at this time of year they burn the forest to prevent forest fires. Easy to walk around but quite dangerous!  more »

  • Really cool for 5 - 10 minutes! Definitely worth renting a scooter to check it out but don't expect to spend all day here. There are many other small waterfalls and attractions nearby. It's worth doing some research ahead of time and knocking off a few sights at once.
  • I’ve seen a lot of sunsets and seeing it at Pai Canyon was pretty impressive! There’s a large parking area and vendors (of course) and decent quick Thai food, then only a few steps up to the canyon area. You can stay on the wise and easy area or venture off on the narrow peaks.
  • Beautiful vistas accompanied by a fun hike/obstacle course to get to the best points--these of course are optional. There is a vista that is easy to get to via stairs. I recommend getting to the canyon a bit before sunset so you have time to get to a nice spot further along the trail that isn't too crowded.
  • A very, very, awesome place to go hiking and wondering about life and it’s intricacies. Introspection and meditation come to mind as do health and fitness. If you can avoid paying tour fees it’s better, since the place is free to access. Oh, and don’t forget the splendid sunsets!!!
  • Very impressive canyon which you can explore on your own. It’s a long way down so sensible footwear is probably a good idea. We visited in April and it wasn’t very busy - from what I’ve heard and read it can get jam packed at sunset in December
