Mor Paeng Waterfall, Pai

2.9
#4 of 6 in Nature in Pai
The scenic hike to Mor Paeng Waterfall and the panoramic view from the height of the rock make this a rewarding attraction from start to finish. Take the easy walking trail through lush forestry to the fall. The water rushes down a crevice in the gently sloping rock face, creating a shallow swimming pool below. Bring your bathing suit to dip into the cool waters, or picnic on the rocks while taking in some of the sun's rays. Note that the highly popular waterfall tends to get crowded as the day goes on. Great spot if you plan to stay for a few hours, drinking some cold beer (stay cold if you put them in one of the little pools up top), water is cold but feels good in the Thai heat & sun. Remember Sun...  more »

It is a waterfall chula, the attraction tends to be that you can swim in it, but when we were there it was impossible because he had just dropped a monsoon and carried a lot of water. We do not find ways to investigate the surroundings, but as they were flooded and did not see them.

Cool rapids. Not an easy walk to get to, and quite slippery. No place to swim (though you can wade if you like) but neat to look at.

Great waterfalls, Ive been twice and it was really nice. A lot of people to hangout with. There is a little restaurant where you can eat or buy water. Easily accessible with a little walk in the forest.

Not very exciting. Multi tier waterfall but not much more than a small splash. Watch out; slippery rocks. Waterfall is partly fed by water from pipes (at least, I hope it's water). There are restrooms here (squat toilets) and a small food shop. Please don't leave your trash here, there's a lot lying around.

Where to stay in Pai

With tourism now the number-one industry in the area, you shouldn't have any trouble finding accommodations in Pai. In fact, on a walk through the village center you'll be hard-pressed to find a street that doesn't have several hotels or guesthouses. The village's popularity among backpackers means you can choose from a range of hostels and budget guesthouses. Luxury accommodations are more limited, although with a host of excellent mid-range options you can stay in comfort without spending big bucks. When Pai is at its busiest, between November and March, try something on the fringes of the village for a quieter, more peaceful holiday.
