Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo, Nakhon Pathom

1.9
#4 of 7 in Things to do in Nakhon Pathom
Ride on the back of an elephant at Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo, or view one of the daily shows featuring these gentle giants playing soccer and reenacting historical battles. The zoo allows you to get up close to the creatures and feed them fruit and sugar cane, and during the breaks between shows you can ride them around the local garden. Catch one of the crocodile shows to see trainers wrestle and play with the reptiles. The zoo houses a small collection of other animal species, including twin Bengal tigers, and lets you take pictures with them for an extra charge. Note that multiple visitors have reported less than desirable conditions for the animals here; if you're concerned about this, you may want to research the latest reviews or consider visiting a facility that focuses on conservation rather then entertainment. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Nakhon Pathom holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Local conditions, to 600 Thai beads into the vicinity of 極 well arrived. Into Gatwick serves only includes two useful performances, including large croconaw-crocodile shows, well well well see see see people achieve. Gatwick to have lean to one little elephant, 懶 into one bit croconaw-crocodile and the 頹 into a real little lion ⋯⋯ photography, Qi like, feed, and all other pay, well well worth it.

This not the place to go, everything was dirty and looked like an abandoned place more than a zoo. The crocodile show is normal as usual. The poor elephants were not treated well, we bought so many br...  more »

Where to stay in Nakhon Pathom

A Nakhon Pathom trip is easily completed in a day from Bangkok, but tourists wishing to stay overnight can find accommodations at outdated but comfortable hotels. As in most large cities, prices vary for rooms ranging from backpacker-friendly to upscale. Aim for a hotel near bus stations serving Bangkok if you plan to travel, or near a night market if you want easy access to dining and shopping. Always choose a room away from the street, as the busy city tends to make a lot of noise in the morning and at night.
