Mekong River, Thailand
Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Sail down Mekong River to observe a hilly terrain of evergreen rainforest trees, open grasslands and savannas, marshlands, and upland plateaus. One of the longest rivers in the world, this "Mother of Water" runs through six countries, including China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Stroll down the narrow streets of fishing villages on the riverbanks and buy fresh fish, silk, or glazed coconut. Visit one of the caves near the river and see many statues of Buddha. Popular stops along the river include the towns Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, the gateway to Ankor Wat.
