Mekong River, Thailand

(4.4/5 based on 15+ reviews on the web)
Sail down Mekong River to observe a hilly terrain of evergreen rainforest trees, open grasslands and savannas, marshlands, and upland plateaus. One of the longest rivers in the world, this "Mother of Water" runs through six countries, including China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Stroll down the narrow streets of fishing villages on the riverbanks and buy fresh fish, silk, or glazed coconut. Visit one of the caves near the river and see many statues of Buddha. Popular stops along the river include the towns Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, the gateway to Ankor Wat. Make Mekong River a centerpiece of your Bangkok vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Bangkok tour planner.

  • Thailand, Burma and Laos are countries located close by and the majestic Mekong River running through them sinuously. It was wonderful to enter Laos and pause to visit a market. Certainly an experience to try!

  • Worth knowing northern Thailand, especially the Mekong River, which is one of the largest rivers in the world and borders between Thailand/Laos and Burma. The so called Golden Triangle.

  • We visited the famous golden triangle in August reaching place along the Maekhong River where Thailand meets Laos and Burma. It is imperative the mini cruise on the typical local boats sailing on the river Maekhong. We had a little discussion with the owners of the boats because we had to leave our passports before leaving, it seems the prescription legislation, then everything very smoothly. We approached the Burma and we did stop in Laos. from a distance there is a difference between the three countries. It's still a fun and interesting experience that should be lived
