  • This is a destination where you can buy a coffee, a cool drink or a bite to eat, all of which is fine and good. The real fun thing about Moncham is the road trip up there, especially when you do it on a motorbike. Beautiful mountain roads with little traffic. A great day trip from Chiang Mai.
  • This review is for the restaurant not located at the top but a few feet lower. You order at the counter and pay at a separate cashier desk. There is an English menu available and the staff are able to understand your order, although not much more. Considering the location, prices here are more than fair, but the portions could have been a bit larger. What impressed us the most was without a doubt the unique view you get while eating here. This alone makes visiting here absolutely worth it if you are in the area, and it's not that far from Chiang Mai if you're driving on route 1096. 5 stars are more than deserved.
  • Beautiful view. Very peaceful. Food there is slightly more expensive but tastes good. You can also order the food and have your meal in the little pavilion.
  • I visited Moncham a couple of times, the first time was incredible with low lying cloud which made for great pictures. The second time was clear and allowed us to see the beautiful view of the valley. There are a variety of small shops selling the local produce which are fantastic, especially the avocados and passion fruit for a very reasonable price. The restaurant at the top is a little expensive but tasted good and well needed after the long journey. The choice of baked goods and desserts was pretty good too.
  • Great place with few tourists. Was very foggy when I arrived unfortuantley but was still nice to see! Felt like another country in the mountains.

Where to stay in Mae Rim

Stay in varied and, often, remote accommodations in the district of Mae Rim. West of Impplace village, find a cluster of options, including expensive resorts, simple hotels, and economical guesthouses. You can also look for accommodations in the area's other villages, which offer everything from boutique-style guesthouses, to back-to-basics lodgings. For a greater variety, consider the city of Chiang Mai, the main hub of the region.
