San Kamphaeng Hot Springs, Mae On

(2.7/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Bathe in the warm, therapeutic waters of San Kamphaeng Hot Springs. Some of these geothermal springs are so hot that you can buy a basket of eggs to cook in it. Many believe the springs have healing qualities due to their sulphur and mineral content. Take a relaxing stroll around the grounds and dip your toes in the water, or opt to rent a private room for a good soak (don't worry--the staff will fill up the tubs with a mix of spring water to the temperature of your choice). If the eggs you boil won't tide you over, feel free to pack a lunch. You'll also find accommodations, a swimming pool, and restaurants nearby. Work out when and for how long to visit San Kamphaeng Hot Springs and other Mae On attractions using our handy Mae On itinerary builder.

  • I stayed with a friend one night who does not do reviews. I just wanted to add that to my other review (being moderated), or at least let you know that I did stay there, and that influences my wanting...  more »
  • We took a red taxi from the center of Chiang Mai to get to the hot springs, count one hour and 1200 baht after negotiation. Once down there, you pay the entrance which is 100 baht per adult. In terms of the place in him, it is a beautiful park with geysers and the small maze where you can soak your feet in boiling water. Lots of flowers and greenery. There is also a place near the geysers where you can buy eggs and go cook them in water. Original, but you have to like the smell of egg, and half cooked eggs because even in the 20 minutes letting you never have a hard-cooked egg! However we were clearly going to relax in the pool or take a guest house private relax us an hour and none of it was possible: pool under repair since 7 months and guest all taken, whereas they seemed rather them also fails... Had the choice of taking a public bath, but women and men separated, it has interested us came as a couple. However I have read that the restaurant was average, even when we were there and it was really very very good and not expensive for a restaurant in a tourist spot: 3 dishes and 2 beers for 337 baht, or € 8.5 on the terrace overlooking the Park. If you are sure that the pool is reopened, otherwise it's a long way to Cook eggs...
