San Kamphaeng Hot Springs, Mae On

#3 of 105 in Spas in Chiang Mai Province
Geologic Formation Spa / Wellness
Bathe in the warm, therapeutic waters of San Kamphaeng Hot Springs. Some of these geothermal springs are so hot that you can buy a basket of eggs to cook in it. Many believe the springs have healing qualities due to their sulphur and mineral content. Take a relaxing stroll around the grounds and dip your toes in the water, or opt to rent a private room for a good soak (don't worry--the staff will fill up the tubs with a mix of spring water to the temperature of your choice). If the eggs you boil won't tide you over, feel free to pack a lunch. You'll also find accommodations, a swimming pool, and restaurants nearby. • Nice place to relax near Chang mai. Great after climbing at crazy horse. Get eggs and boil them at the hot spring ;) Massage are fabulous and cheap. Restaurant is good.
  • I think this is one of Chiang Mai's best kept secrets. A natural mineral hot springs located in a botanical garden about 35 kilometers outside the east ring road. Small huts available by the hour, or for over night have large tubs with the hot mineral water piped right to the room. Community baths also available. Restaurant on site. Don't forget to grab a basket of fresh eggs to boil in the hot springs! Many shaded areas for picnicking.
  • Fun day out for the family! Good food just outside before you buy your tickets and more inside as well. No need to pack any lunch. Great place to just jump in the car for a last minute day out with no planning needed everything is there!
  • Worst. Hot springs. Ever. Soooo disappointing. Just people boiling eggs and their feet ! Environment is concrete with gaudy statues. Eventually found an area to bathe - a square concrete tank covered by corrugated iron roof. Not at all natural or appealing. Plus, 'pay more' with an attitude ! Long drive. Double pricing (par for the course) even with a work permit. (Only 100 baht vs. 40 baht for Thais, so OK ...) But what a disappointment !
  • Ok guys, I'm not the person who writing this kind if reviews, but I'm Advanced Hot Springs and Sauna user. So place not match reviews in web at all. Just bath with water coming from hot springs and pool with mineral water - it's all you can have here, and besides separate charge for each activity, it's just doesn't look like Thailand at all. For example: 100 thb entrance, to take bath they ask 60 thb, for pool 50 thb, i went to the shower next to bath, employee just grab my hand and told you won't go, pay 20 thb extra, so ugly and unpleasant, stuff not friendly. Sorry guys, but it's true. For example in Budapest, Hungary, wich is in the middle of the Europe, average price 8-13 Euro for hot springs, and you receive all facilities. But this is in the middle of Europe, and here North of Thailand for almost same money you recive just bath and pool, even no special place to get changed or locker to drop the bag, i literally take my bag with me to bath, lol. Uncomfortable and not pleasant atmosphere at all. Even no place to chill after hot bath, just one bench for 15 baths. See attached pictures. That place approach only for walk around garden and boil eggs in hot spring, perhaps it's good if you Chinese tourist hanging out with group, but if you like hot springs and sauna then don't go, it's no sauna here)) lol Have a a good one, y'all!
