Amidst the valleys village. Good atmosphere. Delicious food. Tea Plantation is made perfect for a slow life and Chinese Yunnan tea tasting.

This is one of the few villages near the Thai-Myanmar border that has lineage to the KMT's Yunnan Army. Though the third generation doesn't speaks a bit of Mandarin, the second generation still does. ...  more »

Worth seeing if you have time. As with everything in this area be very careful driving to get here. Also, many of the pictures here on Google are wrong. They are of the other place nearby which is more North near the border of Myanmar that place is called Ban Rak Thai and it's a village. This place is not a village it's a royal project.

I loved this sleepy little town! If I was traveling with a lady, would have definitely spent a night in one of the cozy looking bungalows surrounding the reservoir. The food was awesome. Locals were super friendly. And the beer was cheap. I was surprised how few tourists there were. Probably because it is so far out of the way... This might sound strange, but this place kind of reminded me of Hallstat in Austria.

Every once in a while one of the points of interest. The Chinese buy a lot of buildings are decorated with lots of lovely places in the People's Republic of China. I think our little fishing villages around the Lake. If you go in the morning and afternoon so beautiful but more might be Jean arrived. On my way to stunning.

Where to stay in Mae Hong Son

Though Mae Hong Son generally lacks accommodations that are anything other than functional, you can expect to find acceptable lodgings here--especially if you're a budget-conscious backpacker. These mostly come in the form of clean, no-frills rooms in guesthouses or hostels. Be prepared for prices to fluctuate, rising during the popular season (between November and January). If you're able and willing to spend a little more, explore the more upscale midrange options on the outskirts of the town center.
