Sai Nuan Beach, Koh Tao

4.6
#2 of 13 in Beaches in Koh Tao
Small and unassuming, Sai Nuan Beach remains a secluded gem, with golden sand, turquoise water, and lush exotic trees. A picturesque wooden swing sways lightly in the breeze, dangling from the canopy above. Bring your snorkeling gear to explore swimming holes filled with colorful schools of fish. A few little huts stacked on the rocks nearby offer inexpensive drinks and a casual atmosphere. Pack sunscreen and a camera, and prepare to enjoy the views and solitude. • This is one of those special places that you don't want to tell others about because you really don't want the place to get overcrowded. So I hesitate, but it seems the word's already out. :) We elope...  more »
  • One of my favourite beaches in Koh Tao - quiet, great to watch sunset. Also nice to snorkel here, water is not too deep, usually calm and clear. We saw turtles. If you want to read more about snorkeli...  more »
  • Sai Nuan beach is free and really easy to access. The jungle walk along the water front is really relaxing and a very well developed path with stairs and gaurd rails. The sign says that it takes 10 mi...  more »

  • I don't know much about acces to the beach from pier, cause I've chose a motorbike ride from the main road near Tukta restaurant. The road is a little nightmare - hilly with many curves. There was several moments when I had serious doubts about whether I would be able to reach the hill or not. At some point the road ends and you have to walk your way to the beach. It is also not so pleasant due to rough, sandy road down but when you manage to pass it, rest of the trip should be easy. Now to the point: The beach itself is very nice. Small with massive stones on both sides. There is also a nice garden behind it. As someone said before - the sea bottom is not filled with colorful corals, as most of them is dead. There are a lot of fishes near the shore, though. If you are a snorkeling geek, that's probably not the beach for you. Otherwise go ahead - the place is definitely worth the effort.
  • Small beach reachable after 20 min walk from Mae Haad Pier through some resorts (so only walk). The sea bed doesn't offer much for snorkeling, the coral here is almost all dead but you can see a lot of little fishes. The morning we arrived we found the beach and the water in front all littered with plastic bags and bottles, I started collecting the plastic and then other followed, in 20 min the beach and the water were clean again. With a little effort we can do it!!!
  • Less crowded. Nice get away
  • Nice clean & quite beach
  • Sai Nuan is composed of two beaches. The first one is small but very nice with a pond, grass a bit everywhere and a lot of flowers. The second one is very small but nice too. Snorkeling here is not interesting at at all. There is a very good restaurant on sai nuan beach 1 named "... Cookies", I strongly recommend this restaurant as it is excellent and probably the cheapest on the whole island.
