Samui Snake Farm, Ko Samui

#21 of 35 in Parks in Ko Samui
Get up close and personal with a reptile or two at Samui Snake Farm. Some of the most dangerous animals in Thailand are presented to you by snake charmers (and other performers) during the farm's two daily shows. The show includes a segment on the history of cockfighting in Thailand, with a proceeding play fight between two chickens; none are hurt during the performance. Performers encourage interaction with the snakes during the show, and afterward you might get the opportunity to handle a full-grown python. • My spouse and I were curious to see this "zoo" for the simple reason that he loves reptiles. We were flabbergasted by the maintenance of the lizards and crocodiles, snakes. These beasts are in deplorable conditions: the crocodile is in a half-filled basin smaller than its size and trying to survive in 5 m 2, the same to the lizards. Snakes on them are infested with diseases/chips and so on. Finally the "show" with the cobra have no interest and can even be dangerous. So go your way and believe me I never put mind negative but outrageous and expensive.

  • For already having two farms of snake in Thailand, I was curious to see that here. Very good reception, the show starts with a young really very friendly and fun with the snakes and scorpions and take pleasure to thrill tourists from the 1st row. All was going well until the end where young ends his show (so great until here), I expected something, see the king cobra and no injury. A little disappointed because in the other two farms the show ended it. A Council do not go there in early afternoon, I felt the snakes a bit sleepy or mode "leave me alone". After a guy gave us the tour of the animals, very friendly.

  • Dear Trivago team, we were horrified by the farm. Every hour, they offer an idea. We were there for half an hour and was invited to a "private" tour. The farm is extremely run-down, scruffy (cobwebs and grime everywhere!). That's not so bad if the snakes were not further their lives exposed to these conditions. The enclosure/terrariums are very small, not at all or only unkind. To show the snakes he has knocked guide constantly with your finger or a branch against the cover, after snakes. Goal was to lure so aggressively to make it from the reserve. Apart from snakes, they include a large crocodile at about 10-15m 2. It was only a little dirty pool for the crocodile to available. By "Kiss noise * he wanted to put this on." After some snakes to photos were forced, it came to the show. Scorpions and poisonous insects were presented there. The snakes were of course main attraction. Especially the Cobras were tempted to on the extreme "in its glory" can be seen. Probably fearing split a Cobra venom from (no bite!), which concluded with the Guide on the knee, and his eye, what obviously hurt him twice. He said that only the bites are extremely dangerous and there is "eh" a half an hour to get to the hospital for the antidote. He repeated that in the fun times. We felt that as a macabre and IMPIOUS. Never a supposed animal show shocked us so. If it was not a "private show", we would have gone after the first minute.
