Reef Island Must See
Ko Kham is a small island near Ko Mak, in Trat Province, Thailand. It can be reached with a sea kayak from Ko Mak or by walking during low tide. Ko Kham has nice places to snorkel, depending on the direction of wind. Especially the south beach has calm sea, a nice sand dune, black lava rocks with shells, and crabs . Near rocks, you may see black sea urchins that have 15- radius and many thin black spines about 30- long. Locals say that the spines contain small needles and poison: if one touches the spines and is stuck by a needle, the needle should be crushed with a rock. The poison is only irritating and not lethal. In Thai, the name is hoi men .Koh Kham underwater Park is an island in the Northeastern gulf of Thailand in Trat province. It is located to the west of Koh Samae San and 9 km to the south of Sattahip District. Its physical shape looks like H alphabet with the area of 16 yards. It has 2 main coastal beach there is one in the north of the island which has a delicate sand appropriate for swimming and recreational activities and another one in the south of the island that has rough sand, a lot of irregular shaped rocks appropriate for taking a photo. Koh Kham became one of the conserved islands governed by Department of Civil Affairs, First Naval Area Command in 2009 when Koh Kham underwater park was found. The prominent point of Koh Kham besides beautiful scenery and resources is that it is the first place where polluted corals from nearby islands are transferred for curing and conserving them processing by First Naval Area Command and also collaborating with Department of marine science Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University and Burapha University. The survey results show that many corals recover from pollution and grow naturally as usual. Many tourists and researchers visit Koh Kham to enjoy their vacation and to discover about marine ecosystem. http://www.kohkham.com/index.php/knowledge/knowledge-of- sea.html http://www.kohkham.com/index.php/tourist-guide/menu- kohkham-history.html

  • 200 baht entry fee to the island (included 1 soft drink) The island is too small and have nothing to do than just chill with white sand beach and blue sea. Only half an hour on slow kayaking from Koh ...  more »
  • Small island with the whitest sugartest sand I've ever seen. Paddled over with a kayak from Koh Mak. There wasn't much going on there. The island is mainly used for photographing and chilling. But an abandoned luxury resort is otherwise nix there. Finely builders wanted to cultivate a little more land than you bought and now the construction site has been broken for 2 years. Don't bother though ... Has its own charm because nature is slowly reclaiming the almost finished luxury villas ... Also great photo opportunities possible. There is a small sandbank that is a dream. You have to pay a small amount of island entry but get a drink at the beach bar for free. Is really a great island to relax and feel good about.

  • We semed from Koh Mak to Koh Khan. This is easily feasible, the sea is shallow, warm and calm. It took us about 30 minutes. For the private island, 200 Bath admission will be cashed in, a drinks voucher is inclusive. The island is worth a few hours. The water is very clear and you can snorkel super, we have seen a lot of colorful fish and shells here. A short walk through the overgrown building ruin of a half-established hotel complex was also fun.

  • Stunning island. White sand ans clear water, with black stones all over the beach are just what you need to idle away a day. Far from any crowd, and not acceasible by walk or car. Entrance is 200 bhat per person and you can get for it a water or soft drink. Toilet is avaiable.
  • Koh Kham is still a hidden gem. It is absolutely stunning. Bright white sand with Crystal blue waters. Far from the crowd. With an abondonned luxury hotel invaded by vegetation. You cannot sleep on the island. There are no restaurant. You take a boat for a few hours and all day. And do not miss the chance to go there at low tide: as the sea is going down, a big white sandbank emerges, it is totally amazing ! 300 THB by boat from Koh Mak. Or you can rent a canoe, even nicer. You have to go there if you are around :)
  • Tony island with abandoned hotel and beautiful beach
  • Beautiful island with abandon luxury resort ruins which you can visit as long as you don't destroy something. They've put white sand on the island before declared it as a protected landscape this makes it look more unrealistic. It's perfect for a day trip. You can only reach out with a boat and you have to pay for entrance. The water is clear like glass but take care there are seats urchins around. The environment with the black lava stones is stunning though. There is a small size where you can buy drinks and chips as well, but you can also bring your own food. As long as you stay at the front side everything is pretty and clean. Going a bit far behind the ruins, they burn trash and you will find tons of waste left behind from the construction time. It's a pity! The island is not overcrowded, maybe because of the price, but nevertheless it would be great if they would find another solution for the waste then burning and hiding it behind the buildings.
  • 2 hour boat ride from Kohl's phayam personally the most beautiful place I have ever been. Thank u Thailand
