Mu Koh Lanta National Park, Ko Lanta

3.6
#2 of 6 in Nature in Ko Lanta
At the southern tip of Ko Lanta Yai, Mu Koh Lanta National Park boasts a gorgeous beach and mountainous terrain popular with hikers, sunbathers, and divers. You'll enter at the top of a steep hill, which you can descend by car or along the nature trail instead. At the bottom, you'll see a conspicuous old lighthouse on a hill jutting into the sea. Hike up to the lighthouse or simply relax on the white-sand beach, where the clear, calm water is perfect for swimming. Be careful not to leave your bags unattended on the sand, however, because the unscrupulous resident monkeys will eagerly search them for food. • We arrived in the early morning (at 9: 00) in the National Park. It was only a stone's throw away from our hotel. As entry, 200 baht per adult (100 baht per child), as well as 30 baht for a car or 20 baht for a scooter are required. The system is well maintained. The climb to the lighthouse and also the hiking path are very difficult to climb, since partly unsealed. On the one hand, stony Beach, on the other side of beautiful sandy beach. There were also some swimming. There is also some wood swings to the photo make up. 3 monkeys, we have seen and in no way aggressive. You have viewed, have played with each other and never searched close to the people. There is a snack bar, which we have not however used in the Park.

  • Its an okay place to visit for a day. I wouldnt go back. The beach is average for being in thailand and the so called trek was a joke. 1.7km walk on a brick road... how is that a trek... The monkeys a...  more »
  • Really pretty park. We took a taxi there and back (takes about 30 min each way). Mopeds seemed to struggle a lot with the very steep hills on the way there. The nature trail is beautiful, but don't ex...  more »

  • Amazing view from this national park, especially enjoyed the walking trail. It was not very busy so you can take your time enjoying the nature, saw lot of monkeys and nice trees. Like some other reviews mentioned, the park itself is not huge but it is a nice place to spend 3 hours easily...
  • Incredible views and a fun place to visit and explore. There is a lighthouse (you cannot enter), hiking trails, monkeys, and quiet sandy beach (has rocks in the water). Be careful around the monkeys and do not get close or feed them. They are peaceful and will leave you alone unless you provoke them. It is 200 baht per person to get into the park and a motor bike fee if you have one. Definitely a place to see.
  • Go here, it's great. Swimming is perfect. Monkeys are basically squirrels in the park. Do be careful they tried to get into our bags while we were swimming.
  • Located on the southern tip of Koh Lanta, Thailand, the National Park offers travelers an avenue to unite hiking with beaches. It will set you back roughly $6 per person but as they say, worth the price of admission. The most easily accessible by-foot landmark is the lighthouse. Though dilapidated, it provides a suitable backdrop for pictures against a picaresque Andaman Sea. There are several small islands, caves and a waterfall (mainly in September) to allow a full day of activities at this popular destination.
  • A great national park with everything you want. Idyllic beach with clear water and little fish. Beautiful scenery and lookout points. A nature walk featuring informative boards about the trees, etc. And some very cheeky monkeys - lock up your bags so you don't turn out like the tourists with their stuff strewn all over the place. Entry is 200thb + 20thb for scooter - could just park up the road.....
