Mu Koh Lanta National Park, Ko Lanta

(3.6/5 based on 600 reviews on the web)
At the southern tip of Ko Lanta Yai, Mu Koh Lanta National Park boasts a gorgeous beach and mountainous terrain popular with hikers, sunbathers, and divers. You'll enter at the top of a steep hill, which you can descend by car or along the nature trail instead. At the bottom, you'll see a conspicuous old lighthouse on a hill jutting into the sea. Hike up to the lighthouse or simply relax on the white-sand beach, where the clear, calm water is perfect for swimming. Be careful not to leave your bags unattended on the sand, however, because the unscrupulous resident monkeys will eagerly search them for food. Using our online itinerary creator, Ko Lanta attractions like Mu Koh Lanta National Park can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • The National Park is located on the extreme southern tip of the island. It is very easy to reach with the scooter (scooter). But please be careful! 2 people can fit on a scooter. Who so moved and inexperienced in this respect is a part, should not occupy better these to the 1.mal with 2 people. Background of this warning is that towards the end of the route to the Park multiple gradients in the 2% range must be mastered and the weight must be slowed by 2 persons there. Who da overheat the brakes can get a problem, because the parts generally have brake... The "Park" itself has a tourist information Hall, where one first should register in the Kondulenzbuch for Bhumibol. Then there is a small kiosk with non-alcoholic drinks, ice cream, and a simple menu. On the headland, you can climb to the lighthouse or leave it "right" and go directly to the small bathing Bay with white beach. This was when we were at lunch time there, pleasingly empty. Overall little tourist operation. You want in the water, always someone when things should remain as the "monkey gang" is there pretty active. The things are ransacked and all possible appropriate and inappropriate is kidnapped on the nearby trees (at the couple, which further made things 100 m, it was the shoes/sandals, then hanging in the tree). After bathing there are fresh water showers, in the park but we keep things in mind. Depending on the own pedestrian performance of then still the nature trail of the Park is offered. On the trail, there are several places where you have very nice views (photographs) over the Bay and the lighthouse. Really very nice. On the trail, some plants and trees are described and explained. The trail ends at the ticket booth, so that one must walk down the street to the parking lot again. Conclusion: The Park is a worthwhile change to the "only" beach life on the island. Luckily the Park is not crowded yet. The visitors are spread in the area very well.

  • Again a good part of a day trip around island of koh Lanta well worth visit good views but you can do by hiring taxi driver yourself  more »
more »

  • Good view from Light house, nice Beach. Beware of monkeys, but do not be scared. They are trying their luck. Bastards. Nature trail is just bad joke, concrete in rainforest. Rather go to tiger cave And waterfall. IT is more authentic experience. Not worth 200 baths. Believe me.
  • Was a wonderful view point from the lighthouse and 2 diverse beaches. Because its a national park, the sandy beach was gorgeous without the crowds. The Nature trail is 1.7 km, the sign says takes 2 hours but took us about 40 minutes. However, we walked right past the "so called viewpoint" as it was just a peak through trees and the rest of the trail was more through a jungle highlighting types of trees. I would pass next time on the nature hike. The monkeys are quite aggressive. They watch the beach for new people and then when you go swimming start going through your bags to find food. At the food cafe they literally steal ice cream from your hand. Was expecting snorkeling from the reviews, but there was little snorkeling and shallow with lots of rocks.
  • Nice views especially from the lighthouse peak. Careful though, it is very high and no secure paths. Monkeys are everywhere and used to humans near to them.
  • Beautiful park. It's far but worth it! Beware of the monkeys they open your bags and steal food.
  • Peaceful Nature Trail not too hard but hard enough takes about 30 mins. Then swim in the sea to cool off.
