Create an itinerary including Lanta Old Town
Stroll along the beach, browse the souvenir shops, and eat freshly caught seafood at Lanta Old Town, an ethnically diverse area with Chinese merchants, local Thai fishing families, and an ancient Sea Gypsy community. You can catch a long-tail boat tour of the island or a mangrove tour from the waterfront, or embark upon a snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, or kayaking trip. Many years ago, Ko Lanta's Old Town acted as an important port and commercial center for the island, providing a safe stopping place for vessels sailing between Phuket, Penang, and Singapore. • We didn't stay long but the atmosphere was very nice and the view from the pier impressive! Some lovely, exceptionally clean, restaurants overhanging the bay sure could do with the business.

  • Made a quick visit midday and was positivley surprised to see that many of the shops were open. There were howevre not many customers. Maybe more in the evening.

  • An idyllic and rustic town minus the neon signs and loud bars. A haven with fishing tours, cute cafes, local shops and a warm community. Home away from home! Lots of activity at the skate park in the evenings- dancing, football and gatherings. Stayed here for 2 nights and loved every moment here. Wish I stayed longer!
  • Nice well kept single street old town that caters primarily to tourists. More relaxed, very friendly mix of Thai-Chinese, Thai- Muslim, Thai people and culture. Although it is commercial, there is no pressure for sales of clothing, restaurants, and guesthouses. On one side of street the structures are built on stilts over the water. Most restaurants will over the water. At one end of the main street is a pier where local people of the neighborhood congregate throughout the day. I'm late afternoon there are young children at a skate park and other playing games. A laid-back well kept old town, that I read was effected by the 2004 tsunami.
  • A MUST SEE if visiting Koh Lanta… this was mine and my partners favourite part of the trip… the souvenir shops were amazing, the food places were incredible (especially pinto) and grandmas house ice cream is the best on the island… 100% recommend this to everyone!
  • Cute little town with all the essentials. stayed at a beautiful airbnb about 6 min walk away. it is a great experience to see the smaller towns of Thailand as I live in BKK. Worth a visit to this area.
  • Cute little shirt market road, Has a nice shopping for souvenirs and can find some.great specials going around at some of the sea view restaraunt - for example 80 baht for Pangang curry or 60 baht for massaman with rice.. also has a nice pier with sea view bit water was choppy there most days despite good weather. Definitely recommend for passing y thing but don't go to far out your way as there is little to do, that being said the bike ride there was awesome.
