  • It’s clear that Rawai Muay Thai have the best gym in Khao Lak. It’s by far the largest out of why we have seen, with more than 4 rings, but also the most structured. I went to the Ilovekickboxing gym ...  more »
  • Had a great time at Rawai Muay Thai in the two weeks of training! Speaking for myself, I could moslty improve my Muay Thai techniques, especially while sparring with their young Thai champs. It is a m...  more »
  • Me and my girlfriend forests to a warm country on vacation. I already train Thai Boxing in the Netherlands about 6 years now. Last year I was here back in January after booking via email. Everything was perfect. Taxi was waiting for us and the room was ready. We had rented a bungalow and the rate you can not complain about it. I have to say that hygiene was not top but for the price I can really complain about nowhere but that is with many things in Asia so. The people were so friendly and sweet. Everything is so cheap. The weather and the location were top. Beautiful nature around you many beaches. Within walking distance you have restaurants, Bistro/bar (if you I drink itself does not) and taxi. You can rent a scooter this year next year, we will certainly do so. Thailand is the land of smiles in this place you will certainly experienced that.

  • I trained at Rawai last spring. The review is split in a room & a Training part. PRIVATE FAN ROOM 2.5/5 This review is ONLY for the private fan room. Other rooms are a lot nicer. - The private fan room has one major problem: the bedroom is in the middle of the building. Not being able to open a window to the outside makes the room extremely hot and stuffy, and thus very difficult to sleep. - The safes are too small for a laptop. Although I never heard anything being stolen at Rawai I would have preferred leaving the valuables in the safe, while leaving the windows open at night. - The rooms were rather expensive compared to rooms in Khao Lak DURING RAINY SEASON. (They are probably a lot cheaper in comparison during high season, as the prices are fixed.) - The Wifi often became slow during storms. However they are working on the problem when I was leaving. Bad stuff aside: - The staff (and Diana in particular) take care if something does not work properly. The couch in my room smelled mouldy. When I told it to Diana, they promptly went to get a new couch. - I really liked having a hammock on the front porch. TRAINING (& facilities) 4/5 -Some of the machines in the gym were in pretty bad condition. You’ll get enough cardio during the lessons though ;). However, a sturdy weightlifting rack fixed to the wall would be nice for strength training. - They do not have equipment (gloves etc.) for rent. - My only point of criticism about the training is, that I would have preferred more sparring. I did not do the training for a fight (6h/day instead of 4h/day) as I had a developing shin splint. More sparring during the normal classes would be great. I really loved the training in total. - There are a lot of trainers, many of whom have fought & won national and international Muay Thai tournaments. - The trainers gave constructive feedback during bagwork and of course the one on one training as well. - I found them very motivating - I was kind of sceptical, about how many people wrote that you become “part of the family” but I’d really say it’s true. If you stay for a while you get to know the trainers become part of the constant silly inside Jokes. Also you’ll get to hear some craaaazy stories when talking to the trainers for a while. - Huuge shoutout to Lemsing who really helped me with my leg, when It was hurting from the Shin splint. - As there were less people during rainy season, we got extra one on one training time with the trainers. Tips for a great stay at Rawai / Khao Lak - If you are there to really train, go during rainy season. The trainer to student ratio is a lot higher. Also basically everything in Thailand is cheaper, when less tourists are around. - The store next to the seven eleven at the Khao Lak Bus Station has many of the products sola at the tourist market, however with fixed prices, which are about half of what you pay at the market. - The Massage by Pailing (down the street from the gym and about 100m to the left at the first crossing) has the best price-service ratio. - If you’re 1.80 or taller bring a large hammock, ideally with a mosquito net. - Get a haircut from Padu - Looking for a Restaurant that is actually frequented by Thais & not just tourists? The Chonthicha BBQ is a great place if you eat meat. is a great place if you eat meat.
  • Best Muay Thai experience of my life . One month of training with top class trainers, lovely peolpe, kind and friendly. I really suggest to everyone who would like to get more close with this wounderful Art.
  • If you are looking for an all around great Muay Thai experience this is it. The location is perfect, quiet, close to the beach, layer back. The trainers are friendly and the training itself if you are dedicated and combine healthy eating is amazing. I saw great results in 3 weeks but I made sure my diet was on point. Trained 2 times a day.....the gym, the pool, the rooms, the office are all close. The staff is friendly. The people who come to train are also great and everyone is there for the same reason. It becomes like a family, but you can still do your own thing. You train at 7:30 am and then have the choice to do your second session at 3 or 5. Meaning there is lots of time to explore on a bike, go to the beaches, lay poolside, go into town during the day! Bike rentals from the office are 200bht for the day. I will be back! Loved the experience! Thank you!
  • Nice trainers, great vip hours, and very clean place. However, they have no gear. You can borrow nothing here (which is very uncommon).
  • Verry nice training cam. Every level trainers are well come... trainees are positive and take care about your teknik are well.. i like!!

Where to stay in Khao Lak

Expect to find apartment and resort-style places to stay in Khao Lak. Beachside options charge relatively steep rates for views of Thailand's west coast and the sea, though you can also find less pricey self-service villas and apartment complexes in several areas along the shore. For budget hostels and hotels, look along Phetkasem Road, the main arterial road in Khao Lak.
