This place is so horrible, baby elephants chained up and obviously distressed. The jungle trek was a walk around a car park! They try to sell you bananas to feed the elephants and they ask for tips, t...  more »

This visit had been presented to us as: "the opportunity to observe elephants evolve in nature in a camp designed to protect them." It is nothing of the kind. I regularly travel to Thailand and I had the opportunity to visit several camps of elephants; I've never seen such misery to Maha Wang Chang. Of the baby elephants separated from their mothers: one, disturbed, who voluntarily bumped his head against her enclosure; another small, hobbled by chains, two-legged running tirelessly around a pole of wood like crazy, it was awful; an old adult male tied tight, likely suffering from a tumour, given the huge ball on her abdomen, which was nevertheless carrying tourists and who was so exhausted that he could no longer feed (see photos). Animals left without water, while it's almost 40 degrees. Etc. This camp practice the animal abuser of ordinary and totally indifferent way. It's cruel to these magnificent, intelligent animals. Wang Chang Elephant Camp Maha is a shame for Thailand and it is a place to avoid. There are, it seems, a few rare respectful camps of animals, for example Elephant nature park in Chiang Mai. Why not choose them and encourage other camps to imitate their example by treating their animals better?

It was incredible! First, our group watched the speech, then volunteers (me and another man) was summoned to speak on the show. Elephant potoptalsja on us, then I put on my hat, so to speak, "kissed". Then I'm one of the group went for a swim with the elephant. Changed into a Leotard, villages with hop on an elephant and went into the side of the river. Gone deep enough. Unfortunately, one is not provided (in one gear was told that sitting on an elephant and it just obdaet water), and then there's the elephant began to get up on her hind legs and throw me into the water, and I don't know how to swim, unfortunately, naglotalas water. The driver does not understand English, gestures, too, will not understand, then, frankly, was shaking all the way. Need I think immediately warn that bathing without jackets. Plus it was still riding on elephants with mat-perematom from Drover in Russian. Now all I remember with a smile, but then it was really scary from bathing.
