Wat Khao Takiap, Hua Hin

3.6
#3 of 14 in Historic Sites in Hua Hin
Climb Chopsticks Hill to the Buddhist temple of Wat Khao Takiap and enjoy fantastic views of the Gulf of Thailand and Hua Hin Beach. On your way up the fairly easy climb you'll find yourself accompanied by handfuls of monkeys (hence the attraction's nickname, the Monkey Temple). Feeding the creatures is okay, but beware of aggressiveness when the food runs out. Also stash away shiny items like sunglasses or anything in wrapping paper, or the monkeys may try to take it. Remember to dress appropriately and cover your knees and shoulders before visiting the temple. • We've came here with friends to visit the temple and meet the bold monkeys. The please looks shabby. The weather was terrible and maybe that a bit spoiled my impression but the view is great and monke...  more »
  • Good beach, be the seller of clothes. Bathing fashion, etc. For 100 Baht, you can rent deck chairs and umbrella, drinks get her on the bed, very carefully. The water is not so beautiful, and it has many dead jellyfish on the beach. The beach could be better maintained.

  • Not a place I would recommend, very dirty and garbage everywhere. Monkeys everywhere and they are aggressive, even monks shoots with slingshots after them? Not come again

  • Beautiful place, although the monkies are quite aggressive, they will look for food on your car and if you don't close the door they might enter the car. The temple is beatiful from the outside and modest from the inside. There are quite a few steps from the parking to the temple. The view from all view points is beautiful. The road to this place passes in a small nice fisher market.
  • Temple like temple but in surrounding area you can find a lot of monkeys. If you will be lucky you can see feeding time. Looks crazy
  • Great climb and decent views of the beach front down below. There are 77 bells which you can ring with a coin! I recommend it! Use taxi to get up to the temple base as it's quite steep. Once there, there are local souvenir shops and then there is climb to the temple itself up top.
  • Very nice view point. better to ride a motorcycle or car to get there. Beware there are hundreds of monkeys at the top of the mountain, so just make sure you are not carrying any visible foods. these monkeys could be aggressive if they see foods in your hands... they snatched a bottle of soft drink from my backpack though... on the whole, its a nice place to spend a couple of hours...
  • Very nice views. Beware of monkeys.. very calm and amazing view of Hua hin and sea.

Where to stay in Hua Hin

Catering to the urban crowd from Bangkok and international visitors, Hua Hin offers a good selection of rooms to suit most budgets. Resort-style hotels and smaller boutiques generally remain closer to the sea, with some establishments offering direct access to the beach. Step back from the coast to see a drop in prices for simpler rooms in areas where guesthouses and hotels remain the norm. Explore the area around Phetkasem Road for more options with very competitively priced rooms.
