At Huay Mongkol Temple, admire the 12 m (39 ft) tall statue of Luang Pu Thuat, a popular monk famous for performing miracles. On either side of the memorialized man stands two large elephant statues, under which locals walk for good luck. Dine at a Thai restaurant, buy a lucky amulet in the likeness of Luang Pu Thuat, or wander the attractive park in which the temple is situated, featuring a lake, water features, streams, bridges, a number of pavilions, and lots of shady places. Be aware that the temple becomes very crowded on religious days. Using our custom trip planner, Hua Hin attractions like Huay Mongkol Temple can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

Where to stay in Hua Hin

Catering to the urban crowd from Bangkok and international visitors, Hua Hin offers a good selection of rooms to suit most budgets. Resort-style hotels and smaller boutiques generally remain closer to the sea, with some establishments offering direct access to the beach. Step back from the coast to see a drop in prices for simpler rooms in areas where guesthouses and hotels remain the norm. Explore the area around Phetkasem Road for more options with very competitively priced rooms.

  • Amazing Temple. Huge area for visiting tourist.
  • Beautiful Temple dedicated to Thai monk who lived 400 years ago. One of the greatest Thai saints, people come to pay respects and worship. Lovely grounds attached, can become busy and crowded during holidays.
  • Nice place for family trip. Clean toilet
  • Ok temple. Apparently this monk turned salt water into drinking water many years ago.
  • Luang Pu Thuat is one of the most respectful Buddhist monk in Thailand. His statue can be found in many place in Thailand. It takes only less than half an hour drive from the center of Hua-Hin. A truly worthwhile to visit for everyone and especially those who worship him.
