Huay Mongkol Temple, Hua Hin
(4.1/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
At Huay Mongkol Temple, admire the 12 m (39 ft) tall statue of Luang Pu Thuat, a popular monk famous for performing miracles. On either side of the memorialized man stands two large elephant statues, under which locals walk for good luck. Dine at a Thai restaurant, buy a lucky amulet in the likeness of Luang Pu Thuat, or wander the attractive park in which the temple is situated, featuring a lake, water features, streams, bridges, a number of pavilions, and lots of shady places. Be aware that the temple becomes very crowded on religious days. Using our custom trip planner, Hua Hin attractions like Huay Mongkol Temple can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Stay away from Hua Hin town about 20 kilometers, but then to have to visit, to worship the big monk statue and to merit very seriously.

  • Impressive statue on enormous stepped plinth. In each of four corners of the plinth at ground level are the most beautifully carved elephants. Worshippers performed a prayer ritual around them which involved walking around and under the trunk of the elephant I am not Buddhist but the whole of the Wat emitted a calmness. Definitely worth a look. We were taken by a Tuk tuk driver, it was not in the guide books.
  • Wat Huay Mongkol is famous by the big "Luang Pu Taud". The very admiring monk from ayutaya period. Luang Pu Taud actually live at "Wat Chang Hai" Pattanee province. We have no idea why his big statue stay here.
  • Thaipeople love it, great statue of a buddist monk. I think if you are not a thai or a buddist. it's just nice ....
  • Good place to see big big Buddha and make merit. The location is not far from Hua Hin but you have to drive or ride motorbike yourself to get there.
  • If you have a car and are in Hua Hin it's worth a visit, definitely if you are Thai.
