Landmark
Climb to the top of Chopsticks Hill (Khao Takiab) by foot, or in a taxi or tuk tuk, for commanding views of the Hua Hin coastline. Dozens of monkeys live on the mountain. Though friendly, they will try to grab food from you and rifle through your bag if you are not careful. On the side of the mountain sits a small but attractive Buddhist temple--accessed via steep stairs--and a tall, golden, standing Buddha statue can be found near the bottom of the steps. • We are glad to do especially when you see the big statue. The 151 steps to climb, this gives a beautiful view of the sea but nothing extraordinary. And once arrived at the top, small disappointment. Barely 2/3 monkeys (must also say that the arrival in summer around 17:30), at the top a few indifferent dogs. 151 markets for better down. Long live the sport.

  • Great little tour south of Hua Hin, a favorite of ours. Locals also call it monkey island. The monkeys provide the entertainment. But also don't miss to visit the temple at the top of the 100+ steps. ...  more »
  • Located on the most southern tip of Hua Hin Beach, approximately 3 km. from the city centre. Height of Khao Takiab Hill-272 m. But be careful: on a hill lives a herd of monkeys who constantly harass visitors, some were particularly aggressive. But despite the monkeys there still worth a trip, because from the hilltop is an incredibly scenic overview of the Hua Hin coastline and city centre.
