Cave Dao, Hua Hin

3.6
Take your exploration underground with a visit to Cave Dao. The caves are without a doubt the town's biggest attraction, known for their natural crystal and limestone formations, stalactites, and stalagmites. These caverns span 12 km (7 mi), through only a few remain open to the public. While some of the caves feature artificial lighting, it's a good idea to bring a flashlight or hire a guide to show you around the unlit caverns. Dress appropriately for dark and damp spaces, and prepare to duck and crawl through a cramped underground world. To plan Hua Hin vacation without wasting time, ask Inspirock to design an itinerary.

  • Beautiful cave to see, pity there is not a guide but it does by himself, in the area there are several to see some full of harmless bats

  • We visited the cave and saw the statue of the Buddha. It is interesting and quite surprising! There are a lot of bats and tons of galleries to explore! Before going down the guard ready flashlights! Very handy even if it is lit in the cave! In short a very good time!

  • Let's just say go 30 km from Hua Hin to wander through this cave I wouldn't, but as part of the route to Pala u waterfall is really even an option. The cave is quite extensive, with two tunnels, and if you're lucky, and there will be other tourists, you can enjoy almost absolute silence-will only violate its numerous bats that dwell here. Pretty eerie, meanwhile, impressed, just remember horror movies. The floor of the cave is quite smooth, you just need to shine under legs (the cave has lights, but they accentuate the beauty of stalagmites, Paul still need to cover the phone or flashlight), plus there are a couple of places where you have to climb up on the narrow wooden stairs-one cell I couldn't climb, was very high. Here it is quite possible to hold approximately 20-30 minutes if there is no hurry. Not sure if it is worth visiting on its own, but as a part of the Pala-U trip-why not, it is exactly on the road to the Derby. If you are lucky and the only visitor then you can enjoy real deep silence of the cave, and it can be even somewhat scary (think "The Decent" 2005 movie) There are some lamps in the cave, but it is mostly to highlight its beauties, and you still need a phone or a flashlight (at least, it will be helpful to see where you step) Expect to spend 20 to 30 minutes here.

Where to stay in Hua Hin

Catering to the urban crowd from Bangkok and international visitors, Hua Hin offers a good selection of rooms to suit most budgets. Resort-style hotels and smaller boutiques generally remain closer to the sea, with some establishments offering direct access to the beach. Step back from the coast to see a drop in prices for simpler rooms in areas where guesthouses and hotels remain the norm. Explore the area around Phetkasem Road for more options with very competitively priced rooms.
