Golden Triangle, Chiang Saen

(3.2/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Discover the darker side of Thailand at Golden Triangle, the historic center of the country's opium trade. From the 1960s until the 1990s, this area produced most of the world's opium supply. Cleaned up and free of drug trade, this is now a favorite place for tourists to visit and learn about former opium production and smuggling. Located in the northern section of Thailand, this area is also home to indigenous tribes, archeological ruins, and scenic nature. To get the most out of your time here, consider a guided tour. Our Chiang Saen trip itinerary maker makes visiting Golden Triangle and other Chiang Saen attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • It's one of those sights that you don't understand why ... kkkk actually is the border between Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. Passes-if there for boating.

  • For better or worse is an attraction. From here can see Myanmar and Laos from Thailand to kind of know. The flow of the Mekong is magnificent and beautiful. Surrounded by tavernas and souvenir shops. Enters and exits the bus took the group. Went by the car rental parking along the highway. Also boat and cruise the Mekong, can land on the Lao side. Town is quiet at night and the Mekong also ships with daylight whilst also is a different atmosphere.

  • Nice view and good service, it's open for decades, so facilities is quite old. You can see Golden Triangle and Casino from your terrace. Room is very large. Staffs is smile and nice :)
  • A bit retro but I think is part of the charm of the place. Big room, nice view, great tasty dinner and specially stunning views to the Mekong😉 if you are looking for a place to relax after a long day routing the north Its the place to be. It needs some upgrades but It also has a very special vintage +classic times feeling!!
  • Most friendly and polite staff. Luxurious looking hotel. Great location. Quiet and private. Though maybe time for AC units upgrade, especially in May. All for all, if we come back this way, definitely the stay.
  • good room with good view of golden triangle which you can see border of 3 countries Thailand,Laos and Myanmar
