Baandam Museum, Chiang Rai

Categories: Art Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
3.4/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web
Part private collection, part public exhibition, Baandam Museum belonged to veteran local artist Thawan Duchanee (now deceased). Examine arrangements of Duchanee's artworks, displayed in a vast feast hall, and admire the many finely sculpted wooden buildings on the property, which are works of art unto themselves. Black is both a physical description of the buildings' predominant color scheme, and a symbolic description of the macabre art, which is heavy on animal skulls, skins, sculptures of demons, and racks of antique guns.
