Where to stay in Chiang Mai

While visiting Chiang Mai, keep in mind that the old town district and the area surrounding the famous night market offer both boutique (relatively expensive) and backpacker (relatively inexpensive) options. The riverside neighborhoods boast exclusive hotels and resorts, where comparatively pricey rooms come with good views and extensive facilities.

  • My Thai wife and I enjoyed full Thai massages for 140 THB each. We visited the temple, known as Wat Sum Pao on Friday and Sunday and each time received excellent treatment. The massages were conducted...  more »
  • This is not a large temple. The ubosot is a small one window affair and well maintained. The chedhi has been left in its original state with bare brickwork and looks all the better for it. Pleasant to...  more »
  • This temple is worth the stop from a picture taking stand point - very nice temple inside and out on large grounds with school buildings - easy walking to from old town.  more »

  • Smaller temple and in its premises food stalls are placed during sunday market. Its also famous for best massage service available in Chiang Mai.
  • Massage at thhis temple, good choice for your health 9.00-6.30pm but on sunday close 11 pm. due to there is the walking street. I took body massage full course for two hours with 280 thb fee and gave 100 thb for extra because very good massage. Note that most of massagers here speak only thai. You can book in advance 053 213 468.
  • I recommend to get a massage in this temple: it's really good, cheaper than in other places and locals go there.
  • Wat Sum Pow (various spellings, but I prefer this one) is a great temple to hang out, look around, pass through, or get a massage. It becomes one of the food courts during the Sunday Walking Street Market. What's not to like?
  • Local temple, food market on sunday
