Walk around the grounds of a 14th-century Buddhist temple at Wat Phra Singh. With impressive buildings setting an atmosphere of royalty and reverence, this site has been officially deemed a temple of the first grade since 1935. An ornate Buddha statue reputedly from Ceylon, with a complex and rather mysterious history, takes pride of place in the main temple building. Admire the delicate artistry of the many murals and the simple beauty of the quiet grounds as the monks go about their daily routine. Wat Phra Singh reviews
The first temple I've ever visited in Chiang Mai, and happened to stumble upon - given my hotel's close proximity to the area (Phra Singh Village). Absolutely stunned by the graceful Lanna / Khmer... more »
I revisited Chiang Mai and started with Wat Phra Singh, the most important temple in the city. It is simply beautiful and should be on anyone's to do list when visiting Chiang Mai more »
One of the most important and beautiful temples in Chiang Mai. Well known and located in the city and easily accessible. more »
Beautiful temple complex, definitely worth a visit. Charging foreigners an entrance fee is petty - it's only 20 baht but would have donated more if not compulsory. The smaller temple behind the main one is very nice and tranquil, if you want to pray or meditate it's a better choice.
Nice to walk through, be respectful and dress appropriately. There are Buddhist monks and worshipers here. If you want to enter temples there is a 20 baht entrance fee for foreigners only. The area has quiet a few temples to look at and enter and they are beautifully decorated. Peaceful area, yet in the heart of the city. It's worth a visit if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai.
One of the nicest temples in the city. Eye catching gold buildings, always lot of monks and people from around the world. Entrance is free. There are couple of small temples aparat from the main one and nice garden when You can easily take a minute to catch your breath or just ease off in the shades.
Great Buddha temple and it is written that the temple has relics of Buddha and Arahants. It wad very peaceful to sit there and meditate. Behind the temple there is a beautiful pagoda. This temple is usually crowded and has a lot of tourists visiting there.
Stunning and great temple for meditation. We can walk around the stupa behind the main building. It feels quiet energizing. Busy place with charges for foreigners to visit (main building).
