Wat Phra Singh, Chiang Mai

(2,000+ reviews on the web)
Religious Site
Walk around the grounds of a 14th-century Buddhist temple at Wat Phra Singh. With impressive buildings setting an atmosphere of royalty and reverence, this site has been officially deemed a temple of the first grade since 1935. An ornate Buddha statue reputedly from Ceylon, with a complex and rather mysterious history, takes pride of place in the main temple building. Admire the delicate artistry of the many murals and the simple beauty of the quiet grounds as the monks go about their daily routine. Using our custom trip planner, Chiang Mai attractions like Wat Phra Singh can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • which is the most admired temple in Chiang Mai, entry 20 bath, beautiful murals. The temple holds a significant Buddha statue: the Phra Buddha Sihing. A huge golden shiny pagoda, “supported” by elephants is also found at the back of the main shrine, the view of it is super wow. Great place for pictures.
  • Big Buddhist temple, Foreigner need to pay 20 baht for entrance into main praying hall, walking around the temple is free. The donation is used to maintain and upgrade of this temple. Very nice and beautiful temple.
  • Beautiful old temple. One of the nicest in Chiang Mai. The grounds are bigger than you think. Make sure you go behind the main temple at the entrance to see the golden spires behind
  • A temple that's popular with tourists and usually surrounded by schools. There's also a school inside the temple itself as well. Red cars (Rod-Dang) always pass here almost 25 hours so no worry. It's a small temple but still beautiful.
  • My favourite of all the temples we visited. Brillant golden Pagoda behind.
