Wat Phra Singh, Chiang Mai
(4.4/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Walk around the grounds of a 14th-century Buddhist temple at Wat Phra Singh. With impressive buildings setting an atmosphere of royalty and reverence, this site has been officially deemed a temple of the first grade since 1935. An ornate Buddha statue reputedly from Ceylon, with a complex and rather mysterious history, takes pride of place in the main temple building. Admire the delicate artistry of the many murals and the simple beauty of the quiet grounds as the monks go about their daily routine. Using our custom trip planner, Chiang Mai attractions like Wat Phra Singh can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Another beautiful temple in Chiang Mai and Thailand. Nice to see that the Chinese influence is much more present than in Bangkok.

  • It is a gorgeous temples in the old city of Chiang Mai. I think size is quite something. Quite a lot of tourists will place not to be missed!

  • Beautiful temple, worth a visit. Not as busy as some of the other temples in the old city. I think it was 20 baht per person to get in, so cheap enough even if you only stay for 5 minutes.

  • Good place to start out Temple exploration in Chiangmai! The temple is beautiful, and the golden (actually plastic in gold color) tower just wowed us. However, you might not really need to spend 20b to go inside... its soso. Remember to try the SP chicken just around the corner !
  • The best part of temples in Thailand is that they are a living community. Monks and people that care for them live in the temple complex. It gives a more concrete and grounded feeling to the religion. This temple is no exception.
  • Very good place and it has a great history of Chiang-mai town. The hall of Tripitaka is very old but has a great cultural value.
  • This Wat is a good starting point to start a day of templehunting in Chiang Mai. Hunting is probably not a good word, als CM overflows with them. Any corner you turn, you'll find a new one (old one most of the times) and mos of them are pretty good.
  • Lovely place to visit! Well worth going if your out and about in the town.
