  • This was my favorite temple in Chiang Mai, far from all the tourists and tuk tuk drivers. I reached up by hiking up the trail (Monk's Trail) that's located by the Chiang Mai Zoo. You just follow the o...  more »
  • We hiked the monk's trail up Doi Suthep and was able to stop by this wonderful place. Very nice views of the city, a cool little stream running on large flat rocks, and buildings hidden in the forest....  more »
  • Have a friend go visit this temple. Just 10 kilometres from the city. The same path all the way to Wat Phra that DOI suthep. Sokthakhami Temple, which has a great atmosphere, peaceful environment is measured at the seat of mind. Summer the water going through the little waterfall path suitable to sit by the rocks to determine itself. Dodging from the bustle of Chiang Mai who miss this place definitely is not.

  • I like this place a lot, you can sit down and do some meditation without any disturbance by the crowded. There are many walk paths to explore around the temple. There are a little creek to settle down and enjoy the view of downtown Chiang Mai. You may need some mosquitos repellent since you are in the forrest. It is an excellent place for meditation and a break from the crowd.
  • It's the best temple in Chiang Mai, much better than the most famous one. There were so much incredible view around the temple. It was really quiet and peace due to not much people visited which can clean ur mind and get ur brain some rest, I'm glad that I went to this temple during this trip in Chiang Mai.
  • Compared to other temples in Chiang Mai, Wat Pha Lat is not colourful or painted with gold, but it's a very authentic and spiritual temple. The beautiful part is actually the area where the monks live, behind the temple, next to a river in the middle of the forest. It's immersed in nature, with an amazing view, very quiet, and becomes one with the nature surrounding it.
  • Quiet and serene place, hike from monk trail at end of suthep road. Nice temples and meditate at the centre of the pond on a rock looking at the great view. Head upwards to doi suthep, hike until come to main road, turn left and cross over to next part of hike.
  • I enjoyed Wat Pha Lat more than Wat Doi Suthep simply because it was so quiet. While all the tourists are clambering about at the top of the mountain, you can come here for some peace and serenity. Reach it by hiking about an hour on the Monk's Trail for the full experience.

Where to stay in Chiang Mai

While visiting Chiang Mai, keep in mind that the old town district and the area surrounding the famous night market offer both boutique (relatively expensive) and backpacker (relatively inexpensive) options. The riverside neighborhoods boast exclusive hotels and resorts, where comparatively pricey rooms come with good views and extensive facilities.
