  • Straight North from the old city Chang phuak gate, past the hotel on your left. There are also signs at the entrance of Thanin Market at local, not as known as Siriwatttana (sirivatthana) Market. The impression that little fresh food orderly look easy and easy to explore. Featured is the dining room in the back of the grounds. For breakfast and lunch, in some random, neither rice, suites delicious, was wrong. I think I could free/busy time would take precedence over the short visit Chiang Mai, local food quest is a good spot.

  • One of my favourite markets in Chiang Mai. As local as it gets. There's a large produce area, meat area, and prepared foods area where you can find everything from juices to barbecued chicken, whole steamed fish, and sweets. It literally had everything that the night markets have and then some. Also across the street is a fantastic food court with nearly 50 restaurants. Plenty of good eats here. Go with a group
  • This market is enormous, it is very easy to get lost. Make sure to pay attention to the signs above a lot of the stores, it will tell you what section and row you are in, just in case you're trying to find someone. There are so many shops here, it's kind of overwhelming. The prices are great, but a lot of the shops are the same. You could spend hours here for sure, bring a little bit of money and you'll walk away with a ton of new things. Make sure to bring your haggling hat too, because you can always talk the merchants down a bit on everything.
  • I go there almost every day, but only because Big C is too far away from me. You can get there anything from fresh fruits and veggies to meat - and of course plenty of pre cooked stuff. Also vegetarian stall. But they are sold out pretty fast, so I would go there then early, if you want vegetarian dishes. Expensive (veggies) .- Big C is cheaper. However, because you can get there almost anything, 4 stars.
  • Get out of the Tourist bubble. Explore this market, shop and dine with locals. One of my favorite things about traveling is the opportunity to connect with the local people. This market offers plenty of opportunities. The market has two main buildings. One is a fresh market. And the other is a large food circus with about fifty small restaurants. And their prices are cheap - it's local. The fresh market offers fresh fruit and vegetable stands offered by hundreds of vendors. It also has a wide variety of seafood and meat offerings. There are many stands that offer take away items. Just about anything you can think of. Why cook when you can get the best of Thailands cuisine right here? I come here twice a week to replenish my stash of of green papaya salad. In addition to your favorite you'll find many of things you've never seen before! Local specialties, rice crackers and every variety. Just about any Thai culinary specialty you can dream up. Fried crickets anybody? Don't be put off by that fact that most vendors will not speak English. We all speak Bhat - add a big smile and you're in business.! And thus we all get by.
  • ah Siri Wattana! a locals market north of the moat, an awesome experience for a visitor like me :) feels very much like a locals place, everything in Thai, but people are so super friendly! I got great food and fresh fruit for good prices :)
