Where to stay in Chiang Mai

While visiting Chiang Mai, keep in mind that the old town district and the area surrounding the famous night market offer both boutique (relatively expensive) and backpacker (relatively inexpensive) options. The riverside neighborhoods boast exclusive hotels and resorts, where comparatively pricey rooms come with good views and extensive facilities.

  • Everything is here but fresh products only, it is wholesale market, too busy.Muang Man is very good market for restaurant to buy the stuffs.
  • Smelly fish and lots of flies. Just a few stands with fruit and a lot of rotten meat everywhere. Some people may enjoy the view of a pigs head covered in blood and ice.
  • Many fresh fruits and local snacks, find the alley next to the temple and it brings you straight into the market
  • Awesome fruit found at this market, it's super spread out though on a few different roads so worth exploring! The best part for fruit is probably alongside the river. Follow Instagram: @theapplegate for more photos!
  • A definite 5 star market! I love places where I am the only one who looks like me, and this place fit the bill. This is a 'locals only' market that covers multiple blocks. Several times during our stay, we hoofed it to Muang Mai Market, and bought mangos, grapefruits, mushrooms, rice, potatoes, and durian. Depending upon the load, we either walked home or took a taxi. Fantastically fresh food, local food, organic food, local charm, great experience, and prices that we couldn't beat anywhere else in town. This was a great experience every time.
