Where to stay in Chiang Mai

While visiting Chiang Mai, keep in mind that the old town district and the area surrounding the famous night market offer both boutique (relatively expensive) and backpacker (relatively inexpensive) options. The riverside neighborhoods boast exclusive hotels and resorts, where comparatively pricey rooms come with good views and extensive facilities.

  • Maya tries to be an upscale shopping plaza, but their tenants/shops are definitely NOT upscale. Several food places, but by 9:00 P.M. most are closing for the day. I would not go back to this shopping...  more »
  • We visited the Maya Mall from June 1 to June 4. We were staying at U Nimman so it's very convenient to check this mall out. It has a variety of shops to see. There is also a Starbucks where you can ge...  more »
  • I found this mall to be a welcome break from standard tourist fare found throughout the old city. Perhaps the highlight for me was the cinema located on the top floor of the mall. For 400 THB, I got t...  more »

  • Typical glossy mall but some interesting features. On the top floor is a large space called AIS CAMP which has some basic cafe options but is mainly a place to just hang out with your device. Nice and protected from the noise of the mall, it's a very pleasant spot. Also, a nice Thai touch are the market stalls outside.
  • Last week I had a marvellous 40baht early-morning breakfast at their basement level,. My breakfast experience was enhanced as lots of good-humoured locals, were very nice to me and helped me understand their system, and enjoy their high-quality food. I choose a fried egg, which was delicious, and they guided me to the various vegetarian dishes to go with it. So, in general Maya is a great place to spend a while, and good to walk around, see what's going on there... cool, clean, heaps of interesting events. Here's a few snaps from a couple of their free exhibitions this week.
  • Great Mall with a 24 hours co working space! We went like twice a week into the cinema! Also we recommend the Sushi place in the grocery store! High quality Sushi! If you are still hungry try the vegetarian food stall! The owners are the sweetest! We saw them every day! We ask when is your day off? The answer was 1 day a month:(
  • One stop shop. You can get most stuffs you need here. food courts, cafe, garment, and even soveniour. Spacious parking area. Supermarket also available.
  • Ultra modern hip mall, styled like the Central malls. Standard amenities like supermarket, multiplex, and other western brand name shops. Good watering holes with a view on the roof.
