Chiang Mai from a lot of difference in appearance compared to the Mayan Mall or the Mall. The tops markets and cinemas are also available. But once again, there is no shortage of unwilling to shop there is a book on the 4th floor and selling place. significantly in

My husband and I love Kad Suan Kaew! We have patronized this mall for many years as work took me to Thailand for 20 years! We actually last visited in March 2016 when we were in Thailand for three mon...  more »

A slowly decaying shopping mall! As a visitor to Chiang Mai we had a day to spare so we though we would take advantage of some air-conditioned shopping. we chose this mall as we could walk there from our hostel. Only half the shops in this place were opened but still worth the walk. Still plenty of places to eat and we had a real cheap lunch at the food court in Tops supermarket. Plenty of food choices here at cheap prices. After Had Suan Kaew we went to the spanking new Maya Mall which is about 1km further ups the road. Wow what a contrast!

An earlier genaration of the modern mall. Lower prices that attract local families and young people. Very good location. Tops has a good take-home salad bar and a decent bakery. The Bangkok Bank branch is very familiar and skilled at dealing with expat banking concerns. Western Union office for cash emergencies.

Some bargains here. Not a traditional Thai mall with all the expensive chains. Decent selection of Thai food on the lower floor and some nuggets tucked away. There's a sports shoe store on the lower floor that has some good bargains. Tops Market is a good bet for Western foods. Unfortunately some of the Western chain restaurants like Sizzler have closed but there is stilla good selection. Be sure to hit the bargain clothes racks on the 1st floor.

Personally I like this place. However I can see why others might not. It's a bit older than the other modern shopping centres. It isn't as busy but that could be a positive depending on your personal preferences. It does have some nice Northern craft stores as well as a good range of food locations.

It's an old mall. You get a sense of red brick wall and long tiny passage way from let's say 30 years ago or more. Still stands till now. I like that you can find what you need pretty much here. The more fancy and specific brand you may need to find at newer Central.

Where to stay in Chiang Mai

While visiting Chiang Mai, keep in mind that the old town district and the area surrounding the famous night market offer both boutique (relatively expensive) and backpacker (relatively inexpensive) options. The riverside neighborhoods boast exclusive hotels and resorts, where comparatively pricey rooms come with good views and extensive facilities.
