  • The Museum is located in the northern suburb of Chiang Mai, when you see Museum under the cab when the door shut, so don't turn away, detour to go back to the Museum, now a museum to the back door and out. As the largest museum in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai National Museum of surprisingly modern and fashionable, introduced since prehistoric times in northern Thailand, after the history of the Lanna Thai Kingdom until today, said National Museum Bangkok, Thailand far left behind.

  • If you are interested in history and Lanna Thai recommend is. To help us know the Chiang Mai region it is lots of artifacts and materials exhibited reasonably. Just go tuk-tuk or taxi is easy, but no back legs and is serious. Few sǎwngthǎew sinks, etc. not available too. AIDS more than 30 minutes I gave up walking to the main street of another finally caught, met a helluva hot eyes. Is going on tour to car Charter waiting or the bikes to go to place. Around Wat Jed Yod outside shop no nothing. Photo was taking unlimited.

  • The museum was under renovation works so the entrance was free. The exhibition was interesting but very small. I don't know if it is bigger when fully open.
  • My visit was December 2016. There was renovation work going on at the time. I found it to be very interesting as I wondered around reading the information and looking at all the items on display. Some videos to watch also. Free entry which is always a winner. Any bags etc you put into a locker.
  • Interesting view of the role Chiang Mai played in the early days of the country
  • Large area, but very few exhibits. Doesn't take long to see, but what there is interesting.
  • It is a good place for getting historical information concerning the Northern Thailand. The expo is pretty good with chart in English saying about rulers, kingdoms, fighting in this place. At least I clarified what is it Lanna Kingdom. More over there are a lot of artifacts both as dinosaurs' period as human culture. Unfortunately the second floor was closed due to rebuilt works. Also there is reason of no fee to enter for foreigners. Normal fee is 100 baths. Green park is around main building. Location is not good for walking. So you have to care about transfer from the museum. I enjoyed this place ands recommend to come here for extending outlook concerning the Northern Thailand.

Where to stay in Chiang Mai

While visiting Chiang Mai, keep in mind that the old town district and the area surrounding the famous night market offer both boutique (relatively expensive) and backpacker (relatively inexpensive) options. The riverside neighborhoods boast exclusive hotels and resorts, where comparatively pricey rooms come with good views and extensive facilities.
