  • This is the perfect place to get in a little exercise. Run laps, stop on every circuit to use a captain's chair, a pull-up stand, a contraption to do dips and push-ups. Come early before it gets too h...  more »
  • The Park is small but very nice. It was run until I saw locals playing a kind of volleyball with the feet and a ball of hollow canes inside. They usually play at about 18:00 - I went to see it twice. :)

  • You can cool off in the shade of the Pavilion next to the fountain in the area. Specifically here, select I do not think it is worth it.

  • As a parent of a three year old this place is one of the best free experiences in Chiang Mai. One reason is that there is one of the best outdoor playgrounds I have come across so far in Chiang Mai. This is a new plastic based play area and replaces the older metal structures. It is by no means extensive but by Chiang Mai standards it is excellent. You can also feed the fish, run around the paths, get refreshments and have a picnic. You can spend a good half day in this City Park with young children. As for adults this is a nice bit of green space, with plenty of shade, in the city. Good for sitting and reading a book, using the free exercise machines or having a nice walk around. Great for locals and tourists alike.
  • A city park just barely inside the inner city. Good to hang out with family and kids. On some occasions, live entertainment and light show performanced here. Free entrance for all. Drinks, beer, street food vendors are available during the night.
  • This park is tucked in the one quadrant of the old town I've never explored. What a great surprise. It's a beautiful park with well manicured gardens. It has many water features and areas to explore. There were several vendors that offer food and refreshments. A Great place to spend the afternoon with friends and family.
  • Good place for kids. Big pond, food, playground all free. Also massages and picnic mat readily.available for rent
  • Great little park that gets really busy with people running around the walkway, soccer, and two games of spike ball. Also free men's haircuts on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Where to stay in Chiang Mai

While visiting Chiang Mai, keep in mind that the old town district and the area surrounding the famous night market offer both boutique (relatively expensive) and backpacker (relatively inexpensive) options. The riverside neighborhoods boast exclusive hotels and resorts, where comparatively pricey rooms come with good views and extensive facilities.
