  • About an hour's drive north of Chiang Mai is located the town of Chiang Dao at the foot of the mountain. Every day is here only a small amount of people ascending the mountain allowed (appointment recommended). With a guide's the approximately 1000 metres then go on a 9 km hike includes. It offers up over two days to make the trip, so you can weather the sunset in the evening and the next morning to admire the sunrise on the mountain. Accomodation is in tents at about 2000 meters of height. The landscape and the views are simply breathtaking. Prerequisite is a minimum of physical strength, only steep and narrow mountain paths are savvy, there is no infrastructure there.

  • Deemed to be disappointed that the sense of yourself. The night air is considered winter crook. Global warming hot days have seen the night sky full of gold but to arrive here was not easy. For a woman who rides a moped come alone from the city. Yes, a lot of time at the single and combined with a relatively difficult. Broken, steep and narrow niches turn arrived, and then I.

  • The morning and the night before we hiked was rain so the trail is super slippery and dangerous. Our group members cover with all of muds because there was fallen down. It was super difficult for beginner like us but once we reach the highest point all of those tired feelings was gone. The view from the peak was very beautiful. Lot of foreigners groups going up and down in 1 day but for us we couldn’t do that, it is too tough so we stayed the night and go down next morning. At the camping site no food no water no electricity you have to prepared everything yourself or buy a tour so they will prepare for you. FYI: You can’t go up alone you need to hire local guide to go up there. The park office is located around 5km from Chiang Dao downtown you can get all useful information, pay for all the fees and get the permission to enter the park from there.
  • Hiked there on our own, just hitchhiked to the starting point, followed the GPS up to 3hrs up, 1,5h down (but really running to catch bus back to Chiang Mai)... It is not recommended until you are experienced, bit crazy, well packed and ready for unexpected things. Rather book your guide...
  • Nice view, Pure nature
  • On the mountain we were raised, because as far as we understood the road there does not. But staying on the observation deck made from bamboo, admired the views. Something particularly noteworthy note can't, except that it happened in this place to buy the ticket on Thai driving license. Therefore, if you are pressed for time and the question is choose one place, then you can skip this mountain.

Where to stay in Chiang Dao

Chiang Dao lodgings range from backpacker rooms to cozy resorts, so there is something for every budget. The town remains a perfect getaway for tourists wanting to escape crowds and explore Thailand's untamed wilderness, and some guesthouses are set in the jungle to provide easy access to those unspoiled areas. In true Thai spirit, guesthouses are warmly decorated and run by friendly staff, though many rooms often share bathrooms and offer no air conditioning. If you plan to visit at the peak of the season, reserve your accommodations in advance and expect higher prices for both rooms and bike rentals.
