Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.

  • Broad walk with some cafes and a view of Chao Praya river. Next to the flower market.
  • The Yodpiman River Walk is a great place to enjoy the day. Situated along the Chaopraya River, Yodpiman has a grand view of the Wat Kalayanamit, the Kuan Yin Shrine, the Church of Santa Cruz, and the Prayurawongsawas Waraviharn Temple. The building along the water’s edge houses fast food to fine dining, hop-on hop-off water taxi tours, and small shops of locally made fashion. Behind the river walk building is one of the big, energy filled flower markets known in this district of town. We took advantage of the small section of vegetable vendors where we brought home great veggies and incredibly low prices. It's really nice for just hanging out in the shade or air conditioning.
  • Great view of the Chao Phraya River, especially from the second floor balcony.
  • Quaint little strip of shops and restaurants. Be mindful of the prices at the stalls.
  • Nice place with very nice river view
