Took almost 2 hours from the hotel in Bangkok-plus a brief stop on the Train Market along the way. We got a small shock when we got back and heard the price: 2000 baht per person (incl. 3000 elephant riding). But we had no choice and put us in a private Long Tail boat. Did not start very well. The first 5-6-7 market stalls selling exactly the same souvenir to the surcharges (which can prutes at least 50%). Scary much rubbish floating in the channel. Also stopped on a "sugar-factory" along the way (free of charge). After this, we came into the main market where they also sell from the boats and there are more people and more life. Chaotic Yes-but still charming. Where you meet padlebåter and "collect-boats" that probably has a significantly less price. But we agreed that it was worth paying extra for private boat with sun roof-not a cloud in the sky and 37 degrees. On the way back we also got us a temple. Okay-been there, done that, got the t-shirt!

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
