Beautiful place and not to be missed if it comes to Bangkok. Take a tuk tuk and negotiate the price. Not to be missed

The Buddha is indeed very large and impressive, but the view was somewhat obscured by work. The temple is small enough, it is then in a few minutes so not much else in particular.

The Temple of the Standing Buddha is close to the Chao Praya River,Bangkok. Took around 60 years for it to be completed in 1927. The serene looking Buddha image is holding an alms bowl. Can be traveled by Chapraya Express Boat or Uber.

SCAM HOTSPOT - be warned! If you are taken here in a 20-40B tuk tuk because you were told by a stranger the grand palace is closed for a national holiday.. you are being set up for a scam. Another stranger will start talking to you here and tell you about cheap suit offers or good gem deals. Your tuk tuk will then take you to a tailor shop or gem shop under the false line that they get free gasoline from the government for taking you there. Don't buy anything in these shops! You'll be over charged as all the actors in the scam take commission. Search 'grand palace closed scam' for more info.

Hanging around in the annual celebration of Wat Intharawihan. The temple holds its celebration every 1 - 10 March to pay homage to the Relics of the Buddha that enshrined on the top of the 32-metre-tall statue of Sri Ariyametrai Buddha. In the celebration you can pay homage to the ‘Big Buddha’, make some donations, see the beauty of Thai religious architecture, have fun with games, and enjoy Thai food. If you plan to visit the temple during celebration period, I recommend you to come in the evening - sometime after 6 PM to avoid strong sun light.

The standing Buddha is impressive. The grounds can be confusing. Familiarise with the customs/significance BEFORE you go to understand what is going on. Worth a visit even if just to wander the area and see the sites. 30min-40mins tops.

Nice temple with huge Golden Buddha statue. If you have time and love temples, not a bad thing to see. Be aware of scams with tuk tuk drivers and fake workers at the temple (around all temples in Bangkok)
