(6,000+ reviews on the web)
Religious Site Tourist Spot
Witness the delicately modeled beauty of the world's largest gold seated Buddha at Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Trai Mit). Many of Asia's golden statues were once covered in plaster and stucco to disguise them from invading armies during times of conflict. The discovery of this magnificent golden Buddha was accidental: a team of people moving the object dropped it, its plaster casing cracked, and the golden figure shone out after many years in hiding. Visit the established Bangkok temple complex to admire the Buddha's clear, crisp form and learn of its fascinating origins. A visit to Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Trai Mit) represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Bangkok trip itinerary builder to plot your vacation.

  • Very important and beautiful temple in Bangkok. Visited by many tourists. I recommend going with time since nearby are other important places to see. Entrance fee was 20 baht per pax for tourist.
  • One can't help being amazed and in awe of this temple. And more so knowing that it is embellished with true gold. Just wow. This temple also houses a huge golden buddha statue which for me was the highlight of our visit there. 😍
  • Really good. Must visit if you like shiny things
  • A nice temple, both in and out. For ladies, if you're wearing shorts, you can rent a sari to wrap around before visiting the temple!
  • Very interesting place and impressive building! Worth a visit. Entrance fee 40TBH. A few minutes walk away from Chinatown.
