Trip Planner:   Asia  /  Thailand  /  Bangkok  /  Siam Square

Siam Square, Bangkok

Whether you're looking for shopping, entertainment, or a place to dine, you'll find everything at Siam Square. Often referred to as Bangkok's SoHo, the area perfectly encapsulates the capital's bustling spirit. Here you'll find everything from massive shopping malls and a plethora of eateries to small boutique stores and beauty salons. Catch a local film or commercial blockbluster at one of several cinemas. While the nightlife scene isn't exactly burgeoning, there are places where you can go out after dark and catch some live music. • Siam square, is right in the centre of the Bangkok shopping district, its as a fantastic ambience, is modern and well laid out. I prefer this mall to the other malls, it seems more relaxed or less manic. The shops are all goods brands. The food shops are very good, with all brands. Parking in this area is very tight, going off peak times might help. This is well worth a visit a nice way to spend a few hours and a few baht.
  • The busiest community mall at the heart of Bangkok. Plenty of modern restaurants and cafés are gathered here at the upper floors. The lower floors pack with clothing and cosmetic stores. Feeling lively every time passing here.
  • This mall is a bit different from other malls, which is why i like it. There are shops in this mall that cannot be found anywhere else which makes this an interesting visit. I especially recommend the ground floor and basement levels. The shop Eve and boy cannot be missed if you're into cosmetics. Its easily accessible by BTS station Siam so i would recommend using BTS to visit since going there by taxi is less convenient.
  • My favourite department store in Bangkok! I like to see stores of local designers, crazy/unusual fashion and lifestyle boutiques. You can easily spend the entire day there!
  • No stopping zone hence dropping off from taxi is a bit tricky. The mall itself is semi open hence a bit hot during the day. Some interesting shops including a big Daisho outlet, and there's also a direct stroller friendly access to Siam Paragon on the upper floor, though reaching there using the nearby elevator is troublesome as strangely there's no ramp to reach the bridge from the elevator.

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
