Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.

  • As far as malls go, Siam Discovery is awesome. It is arty without being pretentious, fun without being silly, spacious and minimalist but comfortable. Each floor has an open layout which is a bit disconcerting at first but you can float from section to section without the feeling of being in a section. It features interactive art installations and great music. With a Vans Store, Converse Store and many up-end local and international brands available shopping here is a delightful chore. Really like the the gift shop floor. Lots of kitschy Asian delights.
  • Loved this place, so much to see..geek heaven. Not sure if it is a permanent fixture but there was several coffee vendors in stall at one end of the techie floor. Bought one of the nicest coffees I have tasted here in Thailand.
  • Open space department store in which goods are displayed outside their stores without boundary!. Very cool store with newly renovated concept. Exciting to see and walk through those well decorated. But the price is also costly. Madame Tussauds Bangkok is also located here.
  • One of the best designed mall in the world. It has a sky food court offering food from various famous restaurants and you can simply order and pay using the pad on your desk. The view is spectacular. It offers various choices of fashion gadgets. You can find a large Boots or Loft to suit your travel shopping needs. It is conveniently connected to Siam BTS station. A good for family stay in a hot day.
  • This place trumps every mall in Thailand in terms of design concept. Definitely worth a visit. The layout is good, the items on sale are tasteful and even the toilets are individually themed on each floor. There's a huge co-working area on the top floor and also a decent restaurant. Jamie Oliver's restaurant is also here in this mall. This is by far my favourite mall in Thailand.
