  • It is very educational for both Thais and non-Thais. It is well-organized. There are 2 routes to visit the museum. You can choose to do one at a time or both in one visit. If you plan to do both, make sure you go there early. It will take 4 hours to complete the whole. I feel there are more information to be read, especially on the route 1, but the time is so limited.
  • From a historic exhibition I expect a minimum of historic distance to its object. Unfortunately this exhibition is a merely glorification of the kingdom and religious traditions. There are no historic details provided which gives the visitor a deeper understanding of the raising of the political system of Thai kingdom and the Buddhist traditions in Thailand. So it is not really worth a visit.
  • We took the guided tour (you have to take a guided tour, walking by your one is not possible) about the history of the people and the kingdom and were mainly disappointed. The tour was switching between thai and (sometimes hard to understand) English language. Especially all about the kingdom was a complete uncritical glorification. Sounds of the videos were very loud and one had to turn the audio guide even louder to hear the English translation - subtitles would be much better. Some of the content about the people was explained in a rather simple manner, seeming like a exhibition for children/young people. There are better museums in Bangkok (like Jim Thompson house).
  • Good place for learning history of the Rattanakosin. The exhibitions are interesting. Accessible for disabled.
  • Nice histories, you can get a free ticket by using the Rabbit Card (The one you use in BTS)

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
