This is NOT a traditional market. It's a modern place (mall, indoor, a.c-ed) to buy clothes at retail and wholesale price. Very much crowded but oddly satisfying to buy clothes here. 5th floor for accessories, 4th for men's and children's, the rest is for women's (you're welcome, ladies). Clothing prices start around 200 baht ($6) up to 400 ($12). Food court on the 6th floor has mediocre food (better go to yum saap on the same floor). But it's worth to visit.
This is why Singaporean tourists come here!! SHOPPING EVERYWHERE! Platinum mall is actually 3 zones all connected together and about 6 floors of shopping on each zones. You can easily spend a full day here. This place is the real reason bring a bigger luggage and more money! For men, I would recommend looking around the Men's and Leathers section of the 3 buildings, Leathers mostly at level 4-5 in Zone 1 and Mens clothes at level 4-5 in zone 2. Shirts in the men's section cost about 280 BHT each but they are all open to bargains especially if you are buying more than 1 item. Don't forget, it IS a wholesale mall. There's a food court on the 6th floor of Zone 2 so that you don't have travel out for your meals!
Cheong Wan Ting
the mall is really huge and one of the best places to shop in bkk, esp with it being air-conditioned. if you buy more than 1 item, you might even get a great bargain at wholesale prices!! the place is really super huge though and the prices are slightly more expensive than chatuchak.
Large shopping mall but mostly selling female clothing, not much choice for guys. Prices are also more expensive compared to chatuchak or mbk mall. Food court sold decent food with shops selling local food as souvenirs.
Big big mall. It is split into three zones but I kinda prefer Zone 1+2. Men's stuff only at level 4. There is a pretty good food court up at level 6 and useful currency exchange at level 5. There is a direct entrance from Novotel into Platinum3 level 6. Buy 2 or more pieces for discounts.
