Taxis are easy to pick, and dotted with restaurants, cafes, live music, etc. Go down the street and House restaurants

Not very far away and very similar to KSR. It is close to the pier for boats, with many local restaurants and various vendors. A visit could be done.

Frequented mainly by locals. Lots of small restaurants and bars in converted shophouses with fairly reasonable prices. Very busy so good to people watch.  more »

Clean, enormous, air conditioned rooms, close to most of what you would come to see, there is no Thai scam to be found in this lovely friendly gentle place. Secluded yet close to the chaos. Located just across the street from the river, near the Grand Palace, National Museum, and the Khao San. Catch a longboat to explore the waterways, grab a tuk tuk to Thompson's House. Sneak through the university campus at the south end of the road and along the river to the amulet market. Good morning coffee and breakfasts served down on the street. Also search Pra, Phra and Athit, Arthit.

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
