Pantip Plaza, Bangkok

3.2
#63 of 251 in Shopping in Bangkok
Get your gadget fix at Pantip Plaza, an IT shopping mall filled with electronics, hardware, software, games, DVDs, computers, and more. The sheer number of small stores can be overwhelming, so take your time in browsing. Check out the selection of new and used gear for Macs and PCs, but be aware that many items may be unauthorized copies. Restaurants, desserts, and drinks are available. If you go with children, be selective of which shops you enter as many display adult films. With our online itinerary creator, Bangkok attractions like Pantip Plaza can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Almost never possible to find original parts. Just know it despite you'll get the famous sweet Thai smile. Lots of rip offs and tourist prices, even if you speak Thai quite well. People are not the nicest ones you can meet over there. Conclusion, if you exactly know what you want and what to avoid, you'll come out satisfied with your shopping, otherwise better to go to a small repair shop near your hotel. Or in a smaller town or city if you plan to travel and don't have something too rare and complicated to fix...
  • Mall full of cheap gadgets, although most of the shops offer the same gadgets at roughly the same price. Most of what you can find here you can find it online at the same price or less. It is nice, however, to be able to see and touch the product before buying it.
  • Everything computer related you could ever need. But, it opens at 10:00 although very few shops open until 11:00, made me wait an hour. Cleaner and easier to get around compared to years ago. Parking for 4 hours was 80 baht, reasonable.
  • Great place.... however to get the original product you need to have an eye... full of counter fit products
  • Good place for electronics appliances. I was looking for a voltage transformer from 110 volts to 220 volts and I found it in this place. The cost 450 baht and works great.

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
