Lumpini Park, Bangkok

4.3
#1 of 668 in Parks in Thailand
Take a break from the concrete and glass hubbub of contemporary Bangkok at Lumpini Park, an open public space offering much-welcomed urban relief for residents and tourists. Trees, grass, and views unimpeded by nearby buildings are something of a rarity in the city center, contributing to this green space's immense popularity. Take a boat out onto the man-made lake or enjoy a bike ride along its many cycling and walking paths. With a library, playgrounds, and over 30 species of birds making their home here, the park has plenty to offer visitors of all ages. • Gym, aerobic and dance, walk, run to play Tai Chi. No paid services. There is a road for people run very extensive. A day with morning man to run around a lot. Good Gulf air.

  • Went to this beautiful a couple of times during my week long stay in Bangkok as I stayed at Dusit Thani hotel just across the street from the park. Lots of beautiful trees and greenery along with fair...  more »

  • Lumpini Park is the place to go for relaxing. It offers a variety of sports you can practise: tennis, bodybuilding, swimming etc. Biking is from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. Various playgrounds for children keep your beloved ones busy. Keeping oneself healthy is of paramount interest for many a Thai. - So do not be surprised to see them practising their special sort of relaxation exercises: dancing to music, doing Tai-Chi, running or whatever. Enjoy this great scenic park in downtown Bangkok.
  • Compared to other parks in world it's not that great. But for a park like this to be in Bangkok it's pretty nice, but HOT. Lots of cats roaming around the park. Not much to do unless there are some events going on. You can rent a paddle boat at one of the lakes. There are restrooms and drinks in certain areas but not many. No alcohol. Peaceful place inside crazy Bangkok.
  • One of the best parks of Bangkok, a true Oasis in a concrete jungle. The park has large moats with boats, kids play areas, gym areas, cycle and walking paths and a great atmosphere to enjoy a bit of nature. Great place to take kids and very well located if you're in the city. Lumpini park is the Central Park of Bangkok.
  • Mini-safari in the heart of bangkok. Many wild cats, varieties of birds and lake dwellings to be spotted. If you are lucky, you might see a big snake! Also double as a public park where you can have a leisure stroll and give your body a tiny break from all the noise and pollution. New and upgraded toilets mean better experience when you need to go.
  • Breath of fresh air, A time zone in its self , a place to unwind, exercise , play and be entertained . Nice place for the good old picnic. In short a place to say hi to nature and see what we lost in this concrete jungle and busy life. If nothing else you get to see monitor lizard :).

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
