Khao San Road, Bangkok

2.5
#1 of 9 in Neighborhoods in Bangkok
Spend a while walking down the short and entertaining thoroughfare of Khao San Road. Named in honor of its rice milling heritage ("khaosan" means milled rice), nowadays this relatively small stretch caters mainly to backpackers, with a range of accommodations, travel agents, and bars. Somewhere between a party street and a place to organize your onward journey, the road provides services and entertainment to an almost exclusively international crowd, with English spoken in every business. By day you can explore the plethora of souvenir shops and international cuisine, before the music and dancing begin at sunset. • You can't describe this famous Bangkok road in words because it would be an understatement. Here you can find tourists from all over the world, locals who do live music, street food so ... unappetizing for us Westerners ... makeshift massage centers. Go for it you will not regret, but haggle on everything that looks like a mobile so no place to rest anything goes here.

  • Restaurants-tons, stalls with food (fruit, skewers, etc.)-tons, stands with clothes-a lot of. On this street you can eat to your heart's content all what has Thailand. Pad thai'je, seafood and baked Scorpions on a stick. You can go obkupionym for money in clothes, from summer in colorful patterns after the elegant suit and shirt. The evening begins with the other madness that you can briefly specify the Ping Pong and is known for this street. Place mandatory to see while visiting Bangkok. A lot of people and you need to be wary of passing vehicles, because despite the intensity of the pedestrian is not an entry ban for cars or other spalinowców. The most famous street in the country and Southeast Asia (so at least she Guide).

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
