  • My plan this week was to visit smaller museums in Bangkok - There are quite a few. This one intrigued me since it seemed that I could take my time. I was correct. To appreciate the house construction ...  more »
  • Only steps away from the Sukhumvit and Asoke intersection which is connected by MRT and BTS. Only 100 Baht donation and well worth it to see a real teak house from the Lanna era.  more »
  • We came here because luckily we were in the area and wanted to lose a few hours before the flight. Recommended by Lonely planet seemed a nice Museum, a must do, but in reality the visit lasts just over 30 minutes. Three Teak houses connected to each other inside everyday items of siamese people. 100 bath there might also be worth but I don't feel right in recommending it

  • The Kamthieng House Museum is a museum in Bangkok, run by the Siam Society under royal patronage. It is a 160-year old traditional teakwood house from northern Thailand. It is amazing to visit this house in the shade of big buildings.
  • Great displays representing the traditional lifestyle of northern Thai people. From fishing and hunting tools to architecture and art and weaving practices. Amazing display of jewelry as well as ancient tattoo practices too. Don't miss out on the animated video downstairs showing the building method of Lanna architecture. Another great video is played upstairs in the kitchen on the traditional cooking methods of the Lanna people. If you're interested in traditional culture and practices then this place will not disappoint!
  • Ummm.. Not sure what they are trying to show here. There isn't much to see at all. It's too bad because it could be a cool cultural oasis in the mass bedlam that Bangkok is.
