Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.

  • One of the premier malls in all of Thailand, and apparently one of the world's largest malls, and not surprising since I always get lost in this place. Beware, if you're an American used to getting cheap name brand stuff, you won't find it here, stuff is generally more expensive and you aren't able to find better deals via big sales and online and offline price matching. (although there are sales, they just aren't big money savers) Many good places to eat here, in fact it might take a few lifetimes to try them all
  • Monster of a mall. Right from luxury brands to a street shopping experience. You'll get it all. There are also 2 mega stores, Zen and Isetan at opposite ends of the mall. Shop till you drop and then head to the top floor to fill your stomach with delicious food from a mind boggling array of restaurants and a huge food court.
  • Retail outlets and restaurants are mostly Japanese theme based. Here you can see Japanese restaurants side by side. It's very competitive so pick your favourite. There is also a cineplex on the top floor and a food bazaar downstairs just in front of the building which seems to be on going.
  • Huge mall with many options for shopping. The open area outside (opposite Big C) is the main attraction with plenty of street food options. The top level has endless options of F&B to cater to all budgets. Has a sheltered link way to Platinum Mall.
  • The hotel is located at the center of the city and is connected to many shopping malls by covered bridges. It means that even it may sometimes rain heavily in Bangkok, you won't get wet in anyway visiting all these malls. Main lobby is on 23rd floor. Our accommodation was on 38th floor. It's a 5-Star hotel and has all the features of a 5-Star hotel. I don't want to spend time telling you the details, but the Sky lounge is a must visit at night. It has several levels including a Spanish resturant. We actually went up to the top of it. The pictures say it all. Enjoy!!!
