Benjakitti Park, Bangkok

4.4
#10 of 37 in Parks in Bangkok
Relax or exercise in the heart of Bangkok at Benjakitti Park, boasting a pleasant lakeside view of the adjacent skyline. Once owned by the Tobacco Monopoly of Thailand, the park has since been transformed. Today it features 2 km (1.2 mi) of bike trails and sand jogging tracks around an artificial lake populated with catfish and turtles. Wander the gardens, stroll the lakeside boardwalks, get out on the water in a paddleboat, or make use of the exercise equipment dotted throughout the grounds. There aren't many food or drink stalls on site, so bring some snacks if you want. • An escape from the bustle of the city. Great place for a run. One loop is approx 1.8km. Go for a dawn run at 6am and watch the sun rises over the skyline. Beautiful.  more »
  • Cycling, jogging, walking or just relaxing...this park is conveniently situated reachable by both BTS (Asok) and MRT (Sukhumvit) and it is big enough as to feel the breeze and isolation from the city.  more »
  • Took a stroll around the park where people seem to do their daily exercise. Got seperate lanes for biking and running around the lake. Also got benches if you wish to sit down chill.  more »

  • This is a great park!! We went there for a picnic on the Swan boat for sunset, and the boats have a built in wine glass holder, which is nice!! Only 80 baht for an hour!! You can rent bicycles, don't know how much, but cheap I'm sure. It has a large running track around a good sized pond, exercise station all along the way, and kids jungle gyms to play on. Ts a pretty place to go do a bottle of wine or the bubbly at sunset, I did both!!! It's right in the city but doesn't feel like it at all. We really enjoyed it!!
  • Nice place to spend a day relaxing. Bike for rent and boat for rent are available here. There are clean restrooms at the park. The bike land and jogging lane are separated from one another making it very convenient for cyclists and safe for joggers. The bike lane is not that good so one need to be special careful when cycle early in the morning or late in the evening when light isn't sufficient. Jogging and walking lane is ok. No lockers or food stall inside the park. But there are some convenience stores across the street and some times a random street stall right in front of the park.
  • Great place to go to get away from the busy-ness of the city. It’s quite a tranquil spot where you can enjoy the green and the lake and the flowers. It was really nice spot as we stumbled upon and it was very close to our hotel. We enjoyed taking a walk around the lake with the locals.
  • One of the best park in center of Bangkok. You can run or biking around the lake, which is 1.8km. You can rent a bike or a small boat. The park open very early in the morning, which is good to visit before going to work.
  • Real nice park for some evening jogging/running. The City Lights will nicely reflect on the lakes surface and the park is very clean as well!

Where to stay in Bangkok

As a commercial, cultural, and tourist center, Bangkok offers a great diversity of accommodations. For long established and chain hotels, try Sukhumvit Road and the areas surrounding the central Siam Square, where budget and luxury rooms are available in abundance. If you are looking for the backpacker zone, head to Khaosan Road, where you'll find a wealth of inexpensive, simple accommodations surrounded by businesses tailored to traveler's needs. Consider staying at a guesthouse to gain a deeper understanding of Thai life.
