Benjakitti Park, Bangkok

4.4
#10 of 37 in Parks in Bangkok
Relax or exercise in the heart of Bangkok at Benjakitti Park, boasting a pleasant lakeside view of the adjacent skyline. Once owned by the Tobacco Monopoly of Thailand, the park has since been transformed. Today it features 2 km (1.2 mi) of bike trails and sand jogging tracks around an artificial lake populated with catfish and turtles. Wander the gardens, stroll the lakeside boardwalks, get out on the water in a paddleboat, or make use of the exercise equipment dotted throughout the grounds. There aren't many food or drink stalls on site, so bring some snacks if you want. • This is a great park!! We went there for a picnic on the Swan boat for sunset, and the boats have a built in wine glass holder, which is nice!! Only 80 baht for an hour!! You can rent bicycles, don't know how much, but cheap I'm sure. It has a large running track around a good sized pond, exercise station all along the way, and kids jungle gyms to play on. Ts a pretty place to go do a bottle of wine or the bubbly at sunset, I did both!!! It's right in the city but doesn't feel like it at all. We really enjoyed it!!
  • Nice place to spend a day relaxing. Bike for rent and boat for rent are available here. There are clean restrooms at the park. The bike land and jogging lane are separated from one another making it very convenient for cyclists and safe for joggers. The bike lane is not that good so one need to be special careful when cycle early in the morning or late in the evening when light isn't sufficient. Jogging and walking lane is ok. No lockers or food stall inside the park. But there are some convenience stores across the street and some times a random street stall right in front of the park.
  • One of the best parks at the heart of Bangkok. There is big lake and can have a footpadel boat ride. There is separate bike lane there and bike rental service is available too. Can feed fish and turtle in the lake. Need to buy fish food(normally bread) in advance. For turtle, need to feed them banana.
  • Great place to go to get away from the busy-ness of the city. It’s quite a tranquil spot where you can enjoy the green and the lake and the flowers. It was really nice spot as we stumbled upon and it was very close to our hotel. We enjoyed taking a walk around the lake with the locals.
  • Very nice park in center of Bangkok. I always go there for a run. There are 1.8k running loop and 2k bike loop. Not a lot of shade on running loop though so your run should be early morning or late afternoon.
