Benjakitti Park, Bangkok

4.4
#9 of 37 in Parks in Bangkok
Relax or exercise in the heart of Bangkok at Benjakitti Park, boasting a pleasant lakeside view of the adjacent skyline. Once owned by the Tobacco Monopoly of Thailand, the park has since been transformed. Today it features 2 km (1.2 mi) of bike trails and sand jogging tracks around an artificial lake populated with catfish and turtles. Wander the gardens, stroll the lakeside boardwalks, get out on the water in a paddleboat, or make use of the exercise equipment dotted throughout the grounds. There aren't many food or drink stalls on site, so bring some snacks if you want. • It was good to visit a park in downtown Bangkok. This park was next to Emporium department store. It wasn’t a big park so you would finish walking very fast. Also there weren’t a lot if trees either. ...  more »
  • This is a small park next to Suhkumvit / Soi 22. There is a small sea and a green area around. Not too much to see. On normal days I wouldn’t recommend this. Yesterday was the Loy Krathong celebration...  more »
  • I went to eliminate the lack of exercise by the fact that It is possible to rent a bicycle. It was with children, but i was able to enjoy it with few people by saying that it was daytime on weekdays.

  • Park in Bangkok Town, Sukhumvit area. Good place for running, cycling, and other outdoor activities. Easy to access here, by taxi, motor taxi, bus. Big lap to complete 1 cycle
  • Benjakitti park is one of the beautiful parks in the city zone. One can reach there easily via taxi or public transport. There are plenty of parking space for both cars and bikes. It has bicycle parking facility as well. It’s a must visit place for jogger’s and cyclist. The Average speed one can achieve while cycling is 20kmph. One round of park is about 2km. So decide no of rounds accordingly. They have place for resting and toilets available as well.
  • If you are looking .. you will be able to spot a Water monitor lizards that live here. Am the park has a big lake and excellent surroundings. Separate bicycle track and a skating ring as well. The park has a lot of tamarind trees as well .. when it rains the smell of tamarind beans will overwhelm your senses! Must visit place. A quite escape from bustling bangkok!!
  • A thoroughly superb park fantastically set up for runners and cyclists. There is a clear demarcation between the two groups, marked by relatively high brickwork. Cyclists tend to leave the inner track (closer to the enormous pond) to runners, although the ground markings - indicated in Thai, and English - give room for both. However, the evening runners are just too wonderfully numerous, and they’ll use both lanes. The cyclists still have a superb and in parts similarly undulating track outside those proceeding on foot. Greenery - tall, broad trees, and delicately scented flowers, jasmine among them - and the expansive body of water give a very calming backdrop to a run here. There are distance markers, although these start near the southwest corner. The loop is around two kilometres, and there’s an entrance in the northeast corner, and another halfway along the southern stretch. A separate boardwalk and some benches provide some space if you just want to sit - without getting in the way of active people. Near the southwest corner, set back from the running and cycle tracks is a public gym setup. Really good here too, and a lot of pull-up bars. You’ll also find bicycle hire and cycle parking around Benchakiti Park.
  • Perfect Park to relax and to exercise. Ambiance is very good
